Albelda was immense at the time though. It's only this season with the problems at Valencia that his career has been ruined.

Very good!! Liverpool's Torres has been dissapointing so far, and Arsenal's Cesc was quite good yesterday.

He has played extraordinarily well. Spain's most consistent performer thus far. I'm happy for him, he is a hard-worker and after coming off the back of a fantastic season at Villarreal he continued in that vein for the national side.
Without opening a can of worms in the 'should he, shouldn't he be playing for Spain' argument, it may be a step in the right direction for some of the endemic racism in the country. Maybe not, but just a thought

Slightly different Frank. Gomez has a German mother and was born in Germany. Klose has German heritage anyway, and moved to Germany at a young age. Likewise, Podolski moved to Germany at a very young age.

Senna has some interesting views on racism
See http://empower-sport.com/index.php?categoryid=1&p2_articleid=52
and his club has the toughest anti-racist policy around. About time Spain got some credit for it.

I wasn't aware of the previous black players.
And you're right it is interesting to hear that he hasn't experienced any racism in Spain, nor believes it to be a racist country. Maybe it is a genuine belief, maybe he feels he is in a position where he can't speak out?

That would be impressive if the league wasn't getting progressively worse.

Hardly. Didn't Germany outperform Italy in europe last season? And i hear the Bundesliga is overtaking Serie A financially. Although that might have been an Otto thread where i heard that.

juve was only the real big team missing.
Nice try, but it's quite clear that your still very upset about what happened to your bum boy Cech in the Euro's. Best keeper in the world

so i suppose Serie A must've been really Cr@p in 99-01 judging by their performances in Europe? Obviously that wasn't the case though.
