The tournament sounds like heaven for the likes of Wenger and Benitez and hell for all the other clubs involved.

What is the age category for the youth?

Pro it appears mine and your team are in the group of death affraid

This tourney is organised by the G14, so other dubious picks. PSV shouldn't be there either.

Unfortunately the best of Inter's youth are playing/training with the senior squad, filling in for the missing Copa America stars... else this would have been an interesting competition for us, but barring Slavkovski, none of the top Inter youngsters have travelled Sad

Players missing = Mario Balotelli, Francesco Bolzoni, Ivan Fatic, Marco Filippini, Attila Filkor, Daniele Pedrelli, and Ibrahim Maaroufi.

Inter Primavera reach CYC quarter-finals

MILAN - Inter Primavera came from behind to defeat Manchester United 2-1 in Malacca and qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions Youth Cup as Group C winners.

The Red Devils's Under-19 side, winners against Porto and Boca Juniors in their first two games, took a first-half lead through McCormack who ran on to Barnes' assist before firing past Nerazzurri keeper Vid Belec.

Inter's Portuguese striker Barbosa levelled the match with a brilliant individual effort after the break, and Gabriele Puccio stunned United minutes later with a spectacular long-range shot that sailed past Woods and in to the bottom corner.

Inter 2-1 Manchester United (HT: 0-1)

Final group tables:

Group A
1. CR Flamengo - 7
2. AC Milan - 7
AFC Ajax - 1
Arsenal FC - 1

Group B
1. FC Barcelona - 5
2. Juventus FC - 5

2. Manchester United FC - 6
CA Boca Juniors - 2
FC Porto - 1

Group D

Italian champions Inter Primavera play against Coppa Italia holders Juventus again at the end of September in the 2007 Primavera Super Cup.

Champions Youth Cup quarter-finals:

Yep i always expect good things from our boys but there are several reasons for that.

First of all it was a strong group and the teams were very even as you can check by the results. So a goal can make all the diference in a 3 games league.

Thu 9 Aug 18:45 6 CA Boca Juniors v FC Internazionale Malacca 2 - 2
Thu 9 Aug 20:40 8 FC Porto v Manchester United FC Malacca 0 - 1
Sat 11 Aug 18:45 14 FC Porto v FC Internazionale Malacca 0 - 1
Sat 11 Aug 20:40 16 CA Boca Juniors v Manchester United FC Malacca 2 - 3
Mon 13 Aug 20:40 23 FC Internazionale v Manchester United FC Malacca 2 - 1
Mon 13 Aug 20:40 24 CA Boca Juniors v FC Porto Kuala Lumpur 1 - 1

No team won by more than 1 goal.

Then it is all about Porto politics concearning youth. We usually loan them to 2nd and 3rd division sides so they can grow in experience better than playing against youth. Then if they show they are good enough we call them back after some years of loaning. Most of them never return though.
That makes our "main youth sides" weaker of course but it is an investement for the future.

So sometimes thing go our way, others things do not. We lost 0-1 to United and 1-2 to Inter, hardly strong convincing wins from them IMO, more like even matches.
But they won so congratz to them. I hope we will be in this tournment next year, and hopefully we will perform better.

Cheers for the info. <Ale>

I heard we had one chance where it was 3 on 1 to kill the game and still fucked it up.

I'm suprised how well this team are doing. They are all decent players but also most of them are midgets as well. Fabian Brandy and Sam Hewson could become decent pro's in the future.

I have been watching the Inter-Juve game live... second half starting now, Juve leading 1-0 after a wonder goal by Daud - who seems very promising.

We don't have any of our primavera stars (who are practising with the senior team), and the lack of quality is showing. Juve ve been the better team, and I doubt we can turn this around.

Wish we had Ribas, Maaroufi, Filkor, Bolzoni, Balotelli, Pedrelli & Fatic today, we would ve thrashed these juventini Sad

Those are our youth team stars, not senior team players... Mancio did not allow some of our best youth team players to go for this championship as he felt that they would learn more by practicing with the senior squad. Also coz a large part of our senior squad were on extended holidays due to Copa America, these kids had filled in for the friendlies....

(except Ribas, who has been sent to Livorno)

Juve 2-0 Inter, Pasquato will another good goal against the run of play... Slavkovski misses a penalty Doh

I think it is 19. It's a shame we went out at the group stages, but we were without Merida I think, and from what I've heard we had the youngest team there. Most of our players were 16/17 rather than 18/19. It would have been a good experience for the youngsters so I'm glad we participated.
