I think you underestimate the confusion of having 2 Manchesters. City is probably seen as the B/reserve team of manu, that's why Tevez went there when he was no longer wanted by the A team

Re: EPL 04/05/06-02-12
Some other observations on yesterday's Chelsea Man United game unrelated to waffle about the referee Webb (who was undeniably shit and pro United):
- Chelsea should have won, and would have irrespective of Webb's intervention had Torres scored a quite simple one on one when the score was 3-2.
-Andre Villas Boas' substitutions get stranger by the game. Why did he , at 3-0, take off Sturridge for Romeu but leave Malouda on the pitch? Malouda was horrible yesterday, truly terrible. He gave away possession for 2 of United's goals. Had Malouda come off Chelsea would probably have won
- Romeu came on but no one picked up or man marked Paul Scholes, whose introduction in the second half meant United totally bossed possession in midfield (just like the first half of the recent FA cup game against Liverpool) and left Chelsea trying to soak up waves of United attacks when all they needed to do at 3-0 up was keep the ball better and play further up the pitch. Sitting back and allowing United led by Scholes onto them was catastrophic mistake. Especially given Webb seems to have 'a thing' for giving United penalties. Had Chelsea manmarked Scholes and not played so deep they probably would have won.

Agreed re. Romeu, thought he was poor when he came on. Sat deep without really picking anyone up, showed no aggression or intent to win the ball, just floated around.

I'd love it if we just went for it and lined up like this:
----------------Reina-----------------
--Johnson-----Skrtel------Agger--------Enrique---------
---------------Spearing-----Adam-----------------------
-------------------Gerrard------------------------------
-------Suarez-----------------------Bellamy------------
---------------------Carroll---------------------------
Going to be really tough because Spurs can really hurt you on the counter and I think Johnson and Enrique can be found out a bit when confronted with the pace of Bale for instance. Spurs are in a really great position as well; a lot clear of Chelsea, not expected to win the title so no pressure and can just enjoy their football.
Would like a bit of revenge though tonight, we got destroyed at WHL and now it's time for payback bitches!

Re: EPL 04/05/06-02-12
Just don't play Kuyt please, he has a habit of scoring against us. And he's Fey's man crush.
I predict we'll boss possession, assuming we play the following, but you will score at some point, probably on a counter attack (Gerrard/Suarez/Bellamy is a tasty triumvirate):
Freidel
Walker-King-Kaboul-BAE
Kranjcar-Parker-Modric-Bale
------------VDV-----------
-------Adebayor
Harry might go defensive and play:
-----Parker-------Sandro--------
Modric-------VDV----------Bale
----------Adebayor------------
but I doubt it, given he could have played that away to City but went for a more attacking formation and should really have paid off with at least a point. That said, Lennon is injured and usually key to playing a standard 4 midfield. Kranjcar is decent but too slow to play like a proper wide player. VDV is also a doubt.
Will be interesting what he goes for.
Either way, looking forward to this game. After the Newcastle and Man City games away, it's time we got a decent result away from home against one of the "top" clubs in the league this season

No red card because he is heading away from goal and no pen 'cos it was outside the box.
That counter only came about because Webb failed to give fouls by Rafael on Torres and Evra on Sturridge.

Maxi Rodriquez is a brilliant player but he only seems to perform at his best when Liverpool are the better team and pressing high up the pitch so if we are dominating late on and need to score he would be a good option to play in that LAM position.
I don't think we will win though because Tottenham are really good this season and they have been our "bogey team" for the last few years.

If foul would be called, it should be a pen - cause initial tackle was indeed outside, but Cahill later (it wasn't follow up of his tackle, more of a cynical 2nd tackle when he saw his initial tackle didn't clear situation 100%) potentially hacked Wellbeck on purpose stopping him of running to the ball which was near himPierre Littbarski wrote:Pras_tama wrote:

What would be nice is if tonights game isn't mired with another refereeing controversy. It's becoming incredibly tiresome that so many games this season end up being overshadowed by a momentary decision or decisions made by the ref.
What would also be nice is if Charlie Adam avoided trying to mangle Bale, as he did at Blackpool and earlier this season. An 11 v 11 contest would be nice

Re: EPL 04/05/06-02-12
From the Guardian's Fiver column:
Food for thought (no pun intended)
Hooray! Luis Suarez is back! Finally, after a month and a half of enforced inactivity for the toothy Uruguayan, we can go back to watching televised Liverpool matches safe in the knowledge that the camera will no longer be able to cut to him sitting in the stands and burying as much of his head as possible into an excessively padded anorak. Better still, we will no longer be forced to think about the problem whose name we dare not speak, and can get on with pretending it has gone away just like we always used to.
But not only is this great news for humanity, or at least some of it, it's also great news for Liverpool, who will finally be able to call upon the services of their South American silk-toed supremo. But hang on, Liverpool had won 12 out of 22 matches this season before Suarez's ban, which mathematicians (or, in our case, a calculator) will know amounts to a 54.55% win ratio. And they have won five of nine matches since, a ratio of 55.55%. This means that, allowing for a very slender margin of statistical variance of, say, 1%, they have done precisely as well without him as they did when he was in the team. We'll skip merrily over the humiliating aberration at Bolton to observe that this 55.55% wasn't just any old 55.55%, either – the've booted Manchester City out of the Carling Cup and dumped Manchester United out of the FA Cup along the way.
Clearly his enforced absence was not the season-ending disaster that it first appeared. And, with Tottenham visiting Anfield tonight in the hope of repeating the 4-0 smasheroo they inflicted on Kenny Dalglish's men at White Hart Lane (when a certain Uruguayan was named in Liverpool's starting line-up), it prompts a fairly obvious thought: if Liverpool really want to make something out of this season, could it be that what they really need is something that will simultaneously fuel their peevish yet productive sense of injustice and deny them the wizardlike services of their cultured but apparently not that important after all No7 on a long-term basis?
Food for thought (no pun intended)

Doesn't matter as there is no mention of "last man" in the law - its about denying a "clear goal-scoring opportunity" and refs tend not to give that if the player is heading away from goal rather than towards it.

Oooh Kaboul, VdV , Sandro, Lennon all out.
So Harry is going for 2 DM's:
Friedel
Walker- Dodgy Dawson-King-BAE
-----Parker----------Livermore
Kranjcar------Modric--------Bale
-----------Adebayor---------------
Interesting. Will be less fluent than usual without VDV, but should be more solid defensively
Looking at Liverpools team this game might well get mired in midfield.
Draw or win all thar counts. Come on you Spurs!

No that is Luis's suggestion but I was arguing that Kuyt should start ahead of Suarez which he is.
It looks like Kennys starting with the line up I wanted apart from Kelly playing instead of Enrique who must have picked up a knock.
So if we get battered in the 1st half I can't blame Kenny this time

I wonder why they let so many of their squad players leave at the end of the transfer window (if only on loan). They don't have many distractions from the league, but a few injuries could easily undermine them.

Well neither team really seems troubled with the other. Gonna have to add something different in the second half if either is going to make a breakthrough.
