    Stephen Sunday Empty Stephen Sunday

    Post by Rez Tue Oct 23, 2007 1:39 am

    I have just bought him in the new football Manager and he is absolutely phenomenal.

    He is a Spanish (Nigerian born) 19 year old holding/central midfield who currently plays for Valencia.

    Has anyone actually watched him play and he is actually any good? as if he is half as good as FM suggests he is then Spain and Valencia have a prodigous talent on their hands.

    Yes, he was excellent at the U20 World Cup and is surely not far from a first team appearance for Valencia, esp. with Baraja and Albelda reaching the end of their careers. Bright future ahead of him, and I think he can easily add a box-to-box role to his game as well. Has creativity too despite being a DM.

    Is he touted a future Spanish international? Would be good for everyone if he makes it. He will be only the second Spanish born black player to play for Spain after Vicente Engonga unless anyone know any others.

    @Kas

    Cheers, I had never heard of him before fotball manager, but in the game he is the best young player in the world. He is more highly rated than Mascherano was (when he was at River). I look forward to watching him play for Valencia.

    @EMP

    In FM he plays for Spain, but on Wikipedia it doesnt mention who he has decided to play for, but he has already played for Spain at youth level so I imagine he will go on to play for them at senior level.

    If Sunny plays for Spain and lives up to his potential, Spain will have a wonderful midfield; with himself, Fabregas and Iniesta.

    Saw him on his debut for Valencia in the Emirates Cup this summer - looks a handy player, if a bit lightweight at the moment. Is going to struggle to get starts this season but certainly a one for the future. He was the heart to Poli Ejido last season - they have seriously struggled without him this term. Valencia seem to be priming Sunny and Fernandez as the future midfield partnership.

    He's looked good whenever I have seen him play. He's been touted by some as the new Viera. I agree with Kas that he has the potential to be box-to-box, as he has the ability to break up play, as well as create it. I don't think he is too far from becoming a regular for Valencia, Barraja is past it, and Albeda in poor form. Him & Fernandes may well be their future midfield pair.

    Camacho is another that is highly rated in the Spanish youth setup, and is a similar player to Sunny I believe.

    yeah sunny looks like an ideal long term replacement for albelda.
    you can see his inexperaince at this moment. although he looks like he will be a very effective player for years to come at los che.
    With regards to his National status i aint too sure on it. he was adopted by the club president of his former club so he could get a permit to play in spain. i presume he will have the option of playing for spain or whichever country in africa he is from.

    He's Nigerian. I had no problem with Engonga playing for Spain as he was born in Barcelona, what I dislike is the way Senna and Pernia were allowed to play for Spain - when they realised they weren't going to get into the Brazil and Argentina squad.

    Now you know why some Portuguese people loathe the idea of Pepe ever playing for Portugal (not eve going to comment on Deco...)

    Looks like Sunday was only in it for the Spanish passport. He was in the Nigeria squad for the game against Australia, I guess with the Kolpak ruling he doesn't need to worry about being counted as a non-EEC player.

    It's encouraging that African teams are winning these player wars against European teams, and i'm very happy for Nigeria as they have been trying to make him play for them.

    I read about him a year or two ago, and only good things are said about him.
