Man City make late Campbell bid!

Great buy if they can pull it off and IMO they would have a squad that could challenge for a UEFA spot this season. I'm a bit more sceptical than some of you over how well they can do this seasn but I will say that Pearce appears to be making some positive and very shrewd signings.

He looks a top notch manager so far...

Yeah i would be happy to sign him depending on what happens to Disitin. In a perfect world we keep Disitin and get Campbell for the bench but i cant see him wanting to sit on the bench.

However, if Campbell is are placement for Distin although i think Sol and Dunne would be a decent pair. id be worried cos we would lack pace at the back with Dunne and Campbell.


According to Sky we would sign him as additional cover....i can see him being interested in moving up north to us to sit on the bench if Distin stays. Not if he can play every week for Pompey and stay down south.

Not if we kept Disitn. Dunne is our captain so he will start for sure and Distin would get picked ahead of Campbell, Disitn is very under rated outside City, he is great and Pearce loves him. Dont get me wrong i think Campbell is still a class defender but if we keep Disitin i dont think he'd start.

I assume that Campbell would have to take a considerable wage cut if he went to City, I can't see them being able to afford anywhere near his Arsenal wage. Portsmouth could probably offer better wages for him with Gaydemak at the club.

I guess it comes down to whether Campbell's motivations are money or football.

According to the Mirror today Campbell has agreed a deal worth £50k a week - no wonder we said we werent interested if thats true.
