You figured out how to create commotion here, haven't you? All you have to do is create a list and make people defend "their" club Wink and we all know it'll "always" be Man utd - Liverpool, maybe with a pintch of Chelsea and Arsenal in there Laughing

    Sagna Laugh

Spare me the Arsenal HYPE! HYPE! for once, please.

    Bosingwa has been the best.

Followed by Johnson, Corluka & Arbeloa. Paintsil has had a good season to. Beye when fit as well.

TS: I didn't interpret the topic as "best RBs of the season", but as "best RBs in the Premiership overall, 2009 edition". Hence Sagna 2nd. And I assume it was similar for others.

If you were doing an overall best RBs list, would you still put him below Johnson, Corluka, and Arbeloa?

What makes him better than Arbeloa?

Oh, the impression that he's yet another genius Wenger signing, despite costing over twice as much?

I don't really rate Sagna that highly tbh. he's durable & athletic and solid defensively, provides a decent outlet, but he's not blessed with great ability, he doesn't cross or pass well enough for my money. Still living off a very good 1st half season ok

I was one of those who thought he was a waste of money signing, but IMO he's been very good. Just a solid, no-nonsense RB and seems like a decent character despite the hair..

Arbeloa is one of those who's a 7/10 in everything but doesn't have anything special apart from good crossing. Sagna is the one I'd want in my team if offered a choice between the two.

The only player to have troubled Sagna in past few years is Jonas in a friendly against Argentina. Apart from that, I didn't see him having any trouble at all for France so far. As with Arsenal. He is a BEAST. Razz

No, I think Finnan probably got more assists than he does. Arbeloa is good at getting up in support fast, decent dribbler for a fullback, versatile. I wouldn't say he is a good passer or crosser though, nothing more than a 7/10 as you were saying.

Arbeloa is above average. As said, nothing special ability wise but solid and consistent for the most part. Like Finnan in many ways.

Finnan was a better crosser though.

Wtf? That little prat Fabregas has had a shit season. Not the man he replaced as captain, Gallas, nor is the man who needs no status as captain, Sagna. They are both immense for Arsenal in defence. Clichy isn't as good, but he is okay. Now they need someone more than just Toure, and then they will be more solid. It's nonsense to say Sagna is at fault for the sh!t they are in.

I'd define Sagna's season as solid. Defensively he has been excellent. Very rarely gets beaten one on one, good positioning and very solid in the air for a right back. He times his runs well and can use his pace to provide an outlet but ultimately, isnt particularly creative with regards to passing or dribbling like the very best right backs are. Crossing is inconsistent too.

Still probably is my top 3 though. Although excellent full backs are probably the rarest type of players - they have to display a greater set of skills than central midfielder.
