Ribery is apparently a big game choker.

Stoitchkov was a big game player if ever I've seen one.

Henry never scored important goals in the WC semi final or CL semi final. Ballack has.

Big Game Chokers: French club teams. 10 European finals and only one victory. And that was the match-fixing Marseille team from the nineties.

The match-fixing had nothing to do with Europe but it's true French teams always chock because of their looser mentality.

    Back to the thread:

B.G.P: Ronaldo (fat), Zidane, Gerrard, Inzaghi, Drogba, Essien, Eto'o, Messi, Kaka, V.N.R, Raul
    B.G.Ch: Henry, Rooney, Van Persie,

I wouldn't put Ribery in the chockers, he was particularly young during the WC 2006, and he usually does well in important games.

Ballack is not a choker. He's an unlucky bastard.

A choker plays like crap in a WC final. He doesn't miss it because of a yellow card after which he scores the winner in the World Cup Semifinal.

A choker misses the penalty in the CL final. He doesn't make it and loses only because his team mate slips.

Bad fucking luck and in the case of Germany arguably not the best supporting cast. Leading Leverkusen to the final of the CL back then was more impressive than Real Madrid winning the tournament.

Bit harsh on these two. In big games they aren't deployed in their strongest position so your not exactly going to get the best out of them.

It did. If I remember correctly, wasn't it that Valencienne's players were bribed to go easy on Marseilles in the match before the final, so Marseilles would not get players injured and were able to conserve energy as well for the final. It gave theman advantage.

On what basis? If you are referring to the 1954 World Cup final, first of all he was injured and secondly the referee disallowed a perfectly good goal by Puskas for off-side when it wasn't; that arguably changed the course of the match. By the way the blind ref was English, but not Howard Webb.

Not really, because Milan could have rested some players as well prior the game as well. Hence after they lost the Ligue 1 title but kept the C.L's one. At that time Marseille was owned by Tapie, a real mafia man, who's been in jail several times. The match fixing was against Valenciennes indeed.
