France looks great on paper( Ribeye, Benzeman, Ben Arfa, Nasi Blush ) but havent played great in ages. South Africa is the worst african country on this tourny but are the freckin host, so never rule them out. Cant really say who will get through this group.

    Seriously ?

They were incredibly crap against a very weak Argentina and needed some reporters ruse to get past Costa Rica....

He has a bit of Makaay!

But Uruguay bottled it big time against Argentina when they had to win, and Suarez sums this up. He misses the easiest chances possible and is mainly good at poor opposition!

Paraguay beat Argentina 1-0 and Brazil 2-0 in the qualifiers, dominating the game. USA had 2 chances and couldn't draw with Brazil. Paraguay weren't in the confed cup bacause they don't play bloody concacaf, otherwise they would probably be.

How were they in the last WCs? not good in the last, but almost kicked France out in 1998 (after kicking Spain out and beating Nigeria) and Germany in 2002.

Who rated Brazil to win in 2002 and 1994? Argentina has some of the best players in the world and a strong tradition. They are passing through a horrible phase, but it doesn't mean they will still be like this in 6 months.

you forget that Argentina could well have won a couple more WCs if there had been WCs in the 40s. even without that, they reached 4 WC finals and won 2. is that not enough?

how many teams in the world reached 4 finals?

she's here now, in my house, for a month.

she's loving Germany but some German things still annoy her.

to begin with, when she says she's a Brazilian married to a German everyone thinks she's a whore who married an old German for money, which isn't true at all. her husband is even younger than her, and low-middle-class (no uni degree).

another thing that annoys her is that Germans are too cold and reserved, but I guess this could be applied to any north european.

but anyway she's loving Germany and the good things, according to her, surpass the bad ones.

she thinks it's a very beautiful country and she likes the organisation and how Germans are honest and direct. they say what they think, no matter how annoying the truth may be.

    Shocked

I am sorry to hear that

girls from Eastern Europe and maybe Asia would have the same problem in Germany, I guess

I suppose once people see that she and her husband are a genuinely happy couple, the doubts will start to disappear

    anyway

it's mostly envy when it comes to Brazilians

most German men would prefer to have a hotblooded South American lady to a whinging German

    think about it

and then, most German men would find it difficult to figure out how you GET a South American woman

    and then get suspicious

    idiots, says I

mongrel hawk wrote:another thing that annoys her is that Germans are too cold and reserved, but I guess this could be applied to any north european. .

    true enough

Northern Europeans are just very reserved and not openly emotional at all

I suppose it's worse in North Germany than near Stuttgart though

the "latins" of Germany live in the Rhineland, ie near Cologne

mongrel hawk wrote:she thinks it's a very beautiful country and she likes the organisation and how Germans are honest and direct. they say what they think, no matter how annoying the truth may be.

    true enough

I guess she will get used to the annoying German habits with time

a Mexican friend of mine is married to a Bavarian chap

at the beginning she found it very difficult here but now she loves it

I suppose having a few South American friends in Germany will help to settle

there must be a Brazilian ex-pat community in Stuttgart

    people like Cacau and wife

    that would help a lot

I'm not saying people are rude to her and say this. not at all. she just realized people expect her to be married to an old man, and are surprised when they see her husband is young. that's all. and I can understand that, since many women from poor countries, including Brazil, dream of marrying a gringo and going to live in the so called "first world".

"most German men would prefer to have a hotblooded South American lady to a whinging German"

it's normal to be attracted to what is exotic. in brazil, most men are fascinated by the northern european type of women. there are many blond, light eyed women in Brazil, but it's not common, except in the South, where German and Italian descendants are the majority.

I've never been to Germany, but all the Germans I know are very nice people, so I sympathize with the country.

    indeed

the word on the street is that Sabatini is a LESBIAN

in women's tennis this seems to be the rule though

Conchita Martinez' girlfriend was Gigi Fernandez

Novratilova and Mandlikova (or some other Czech chick) were an item once

there are even rumours about Steffi once having batted for the other side

Americans like to joke that all female Golfers are gay

    and

female footballers seem to enjoy their own company as well

I read a fascinating interview with a MALE manager of a women's pro-team in Germany the other day

he did not out anybody, but agreed that team-mates were PAIRING up all the time

and that he , as a manager, had to be very sensitive about it

he said that , WHEN he criticised a player for on-field mistakes, her PARTNER in the locker-room was likely to be just as offended as the player in question; so caution was called for Smile

also, female players often switched clubs IN PAIRS

a marketing expert once said that one of the main reasons why it was so difficult to market FEMALE football was that the players were all VERY PRIVATE and that it was therefore difficult to present them to the public

the reason for this "privacy" is an obvious refusal to come out of the closet

    anyway

there is clearly a VERY STRONG link between FEMALE PROFESSIONAL SPORT and LESBIANISM

so the Sabatini story should not come as a surprise

    Otto,

What is the likelihood that BIRGIT PRINZ is actually profesional a muff diver,

    slash carpet muncher,

slash drinks from the furry cup?

By the way, Argentina ARE a side who should never be underestimated, because by their very definition they have players who can either self destruct or turn a game in a second.

They SHOULD have put your lot out of the last World Cup,

having pretty much owned the game until Pekerman

committed SUICIDE by taking off Roman.

So you Mannshafters did what you do best, smash and grab

an equaliser and then hang on for PENALTIES.

Credit for playing to your strengths, but it'll be interesting

this year round how you get on without that MYSTICAL

    penalty ability.

You heard it here first, Ballack and Co don't have the BOTTLE

    of German teams of old.

Draw the GAUCHOS this time round, and you'd better hope you

dispose of them in 120 minutes.

    Allz,

I'll tell you something, and you must never let Otto know this,

but I supported the MANNSHAFTERS in that game.

The incidents of 1998 and 2002 linger firmer in the mind then

    the HORROR of Wembley '96.

However, I'm sorry to say them GAUCHOS were truly

    unfortunate to go out.

A terrible decision by Pekerman put them out.

The MANSHAFT must always be RESPECTED in the way

they will FIGHT on until the final whistle, in a very

    Manchester United-type of way,

but I disagree about it being a load of men's peni

    Speaking of peni,

I thought that was a wonderful Argentina side, but they didn't deserve to win that day.

I saw what you did there with your sly wind-up, it won't work Wink

and if you want to get all Latin on us, it's "penes" Ale

    bernd

we know next to nothing about Prinz and her private life

    it's bizarre

she is a World Champ, captain of the German ladies, record this, record that, and we know NOTHING about her

my hunch though is that she is a bona fide lesbian as well

not that there is anything wrong with it (as Seinfeld would say Wink )

my gaydar is letting me down more often than not

    BUT

a good way of spotting a certain type of lesbian is by looking at her jewelry, me thinks

it's often "no-frills" steel (rings) and/or leather bands

and Prinz would fit that mold as well

considering our Foreign Secretary, Mayors of Hamburg and Berlin are OPENLY gay and get reelected all the time, I do not understand why these ladies do not come out of the closet (Steffi Jones...)

    nobody cares

it may be different in a macho latin country like Argentina though

as for Pekerman losing it against the Mannschafters by taking off Riquelme Doh

Klinsi nearly lost the game by wanting to play like Argentina (ie: on the ground, through the middle)

we would have won the game in the first half by going aerial

but why try to drive through a wall with a tank division when you can drop a few bombs with your Luftwaffe ? scratch

    as for Sabatini

she is indeed the most gorgeous female tennis player I remember

    or rather her FACE is

FAR better than all those Russians like Sherapova and Kurnikova

however, her body / body movement was rather masculine

if only Sabatini had SMILED more

    she was always sulking

like the spoiled rich kid she probably was

    still

should I get reincarnated as a woman in my next life, I will happily settle for that face

    think about it

    Otto,

    Sabatini prettier than Ivanovic??

That's some seriously controversial stuff right there Otto.

You may as well have come out and admitted you hate

Jews, blacks, gays, gypsies and the disabled.

And Prinz is almost certainly a man by the way,

    minus the dangly bits,

ergo I'm not sure he can be a bona fide lesbian.

    @Alz,

You can read me like a book old goat.

Friday afternoon fishing - dangle a few lines into the water

and see if anything bites. Certainly more respectable

than Lehmann exposing his dangly bits and pissing at the

feet of an onlooking crowd. If ever there was any doubt the

    man is a fruitcake

Otto, will you be supporting the Manshaft this summer,

or are you boycotting them in protest of Lowe and his

    River Island dress sense?

    Ivanovic is pretty , alright

in a Mandy Moore kind of way

    nice and homely

Sabatini is GORGEOUS in a Leonor Varela way

admittedly, Ivanovic is better suited for picking up children from the Kindergarten

    -----

explain to me why I hate gypsies, gays or blacks ?

    -----

    as for the Mannschaft

I want us to get eliminated by an African team in the SEMIS

my dream final would be Ghana vs Greece

with Otto Rehagel winning the title for Germany

    and THEN

GOOD RIDDANCE , you scarfwearing gay-lord

    cheers
