Its worth noting that there have still been no 0-0's. Compared to the C0p0 America last year in which a whooping 20% of the games finished 0-0 Sleep I guess thats what happens when you fill a tournament full of South American shite. There certainly wont be a team reaching the final WITHOUT winning a game either. Shocked No

Yeh that's why 80% of SA teams reached the quarters in the WC, while less tha 25% of Euro teams did it.

No qustion top euro teams are better than top SA teams at at the moment though.

Portugal v unlucky v germany with pepe against the bar and deflected cross and they are so quick on the break - you really have to score 1st with them and then defend - Holland didn't have the players to do that.

'Yeh that's why 80% of SA teams reached the quarters in the WC, while less tha 25% of Euro teams did it.'

That's a pretty silly argument when you take into account all of the groups with two European teams in them in addition to the three Ro16 matches where two European sides played each other, as opposed to only the Brazil / Chile game for the S. Americans... who also did not play any other S. American teams in the group stages.

It's even more ridiculous to compare percentages like that when you consider that for Euro teams to match SA's 80%, there'd have to be 10 European teams in the quarter finals, which - for the mathematically slow - is impossible Very Happy

    Alright then:

3 euro teams out of 13 reached the quarters.

4 SA teams out of 5 reached the quarters.

    Better now?

And yes, top Euro teams are certainly better now than top SA teams (all of the 3 reached the semis).

No, that isn't better at all, because the same problems still apply, haha

That is impressive from the South Americans, to be sure, but it's misleading to show that statistic for the European teams due to the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Thats not actually true, debs. Coz for every additional Euro team reaching the quarters, there would have been one less SA team. So its not mathematically impossible, far from it. You just applied your maths wrong Razz

"Had the referee, however, awarded Nicklas Bendtner a penalty, we would probably be out of the tournament now. We shouldn't rely on Portugal's shots hitting the bar, on Manuel Neuer saving Robin van Persie's first chance in the Netherlands game, or penalties not being given to the Danes too often. We should be better organised defensively"

Otto, be a good fellow and remain in your ORANGE life raft, just for the next 2 weeks.

Is it any coincidence that as soon as you declared yourself Captain of the Flying Dutchman, a few days later it sank without trace??

0 points from 3 games. The WORST performance by Holland in a major tournament since the 80's. All since you threw your weight behind them.

Compare with the current, trouble free sailing of the Bismarck since this Hungarian Oracle took control of the wheel.

3 wins from 3 games. Antarion, Blut, Allez, Kroos and myself have been sunning ourselves on the deck sipping Pina Colodas and frolicking with a bevvy of oiled up half naked female beauties ever since this tournament began.

Look, it pains me to see you flailing off starboard, treading water and looking desperately for some dry land as your ORANGE life raft keeps capsizing.

So, we'll tow you into the next Port where you can get some dry clothes and a warm bed, but for the hundredth time YOU ARE NOT COMING ON BOARD WITHOUT A TICKET!

Please Otto, don't push the good nature of us Germans. We are a generous nation - ask the Greeks - but when you turn your back on the Fatherland, you turn your back forever.

Traitors do not get a second chance Ale

I didn't even know that your avatar flag combination even exists Wink Come on England, i hope you will ualify and make an interesting uarter match against either Spain or Italy!

As for us: We already paid greece around 100 billions bribery money Biggrin should be in the bag already.

cheers You can be inducted as the second name into the Anglo-German hall of fame, below mine. We make quite a team old boy Wink

You'll be surprised the amount of good will that currently exists for the German team this time around. Otto claims it as "glory hunting". If that were the case I'd throw my weight behind the Spanish, or had done for German teams in the past.

No, this new look Germany - warts and all (fallibility in penalty taking, defensively frail at times etc) are both entertaining and human. What's not to like about them? That Otto cannot stand them makes it all even more sweet.

England will fall at the quarter finals at best, that is almost certain. God Willing, the Germans go all the way Ale

Trust you won't be coming ashore to support England tonight then. I'll be sure to spray some Dettol around, keep the GERMS away Grr

    Very Happy

    true enough

I will change the avatar in due course

I suspected the old-school German mentality had found a new home in Holland

    see South Africa 2010

but when ALL the Nederlanders on here started shitting themselves

and indulged in the most unprecedented form of DEFEATISM

I ended up being the LAST Oranje supporter in the WORLD

    Shocked

did you know that TV viewing figures in Holland dropped from 7-9 million to 2 million

    (during Oranje games)

    Shocked

    meanwhile,

Die Mannschaft is back to playing old-school German football

    cheers

    but really , bernd

whether to support Germany or not, is no longer about Jögi or Nivea

it's about saving the WORLD ECONOMY, I fear

    and JUSTICE

even I, as Germany's LEADING Löw detractor

who wants to see the PC clown SACKED pronto

could not stand the idea of us losing against the EVIL Greeks

    Shocked

isn't it also possible now that we meet Italia in the Semis Shocked

after what they did to us in Dortmund and Florence, the idea of seeing them beat us is equally intolerable

    Shocked

and when I think of Spain and Sport

I only think of junkies trying to dominate by unfair means

    in other words

as EVIL as Löw ( Merkel...) and Co may be

and as much as I want them OUT

THIS Germany now HAS to win

whether you like it or not, bernd

    besides

I thought we kicked you out of the Bismarck FOR GOOD

have you weaseled yourself back onto the deck AGAIN

    Shocked

I thought our friend kroos was responsible for SECURITY

quite possibly being the chief DOOR-man himself

    don't worry bernd

I will personally TALK to kroos

so that double-agents like yourself will NEVER enter the ship again

    --------

even a glory hunter like yourself does not need to support Germany these days , bernd

Rooney just said that YOU had the players to GO ALL THE WAY

    Very Happy

    I did some thinking, bernd

you may be nothing but a simple glory hunter who has realised the Three Lions roar is nothing but a sorry miau

the international football equivalent of a ManU / Real / Barca supporter

but you are a lovable one

    a good Hungarian egg

more than able to entertain the REAL Germans

so why don't you stay on the Bismarck, as long as kroos and our other bodybuilding worms take you in custody

and continue to entertain us so splendidly, maybe joined by your other glory hunting friend, ebony

    EURO 2012 Quarter Finals DUCKMERGE

    lol!

I love the ongoing 3 part relationship drama with wanna be Germans(Bernd),English(Fey,now),Dutch(Otto) with people in all camps rejecting them. Otto was the first to jump ship after he started to see the Delowfication of Germany...and the winning of course. Nobody can rationalize betrayel like Otto(read post from above about Greece,Italy,Spain although to be honest it would be cool if Germany beats 3/4 of the PIIGS Biggrin ) Fey is a bit more righteous in his shift considering he was already down on Holland pretty early on. Bernd is simply a victim of the stockholm syndrom. He has been figthing the Germans on here as a good Englishman should do and now he has completely gone to the other team. Yikes I have a feeling Kimbo would never do that even with an all 11 London man based national team. Surrender to the Germans Question Or maybe it is simply so hard to imagine England Germany getting along that we assume it must something wrong with Bernd.

Either way keep the drama going
