Post by debaser Mon Jul 02, 2012 2:00 pm

Another new year, another new manager. But hopefully this time a new-look team too.

OUT: Cuellar, Guzan, Heskey (all released), Jenas (loan return)

IN: El Ahmadi (£2.5m, Feyenoord), Holman (free, AZ), Makoun (loan return)

Hopefully a lot more added to both lists in the next few weeks, could be a very different-looking squad.

e.g. Out: Warnock, Hutton, Collins would be a good start Very Happy

Perhaps loan out a few of the youngsters.

Signing links at the minute include Nathan Clyne, Peter Whittingham, Yacine Brahimi, Kyle Naughton.

It makes me happy that several of these are full backs cheers

    Holman is from AZ.

Anway, with this squad a typical average Villa season(8-12) should be possible. With some more quality at the back and upfront a high-average Villa season(5-7) should be possible! Can only dream though.

I hope we get 90% of whatever you sell Hutton on for. I'd love to see the change in Randy Lerner's face whenever his secretary informs him that "Daniel Levy is on line 2"

So looks like Ron Vlaar to be signed.

Guzan has re-signed. Sorts out the backup keeper position.

also Robert Snodgrass from Leeds now heavily linked. is he any good? He's Scottish Neutral

But the best news: Alan Hutton not included in squad going to USA for tour. No word of him being injured (he played at weekend) which means he is surely being sold cheers

Also Makoun not going, so it seems he won't be back at the club this season. Shame, he never really got given much of a chance here.

I think Snodgrass is good, though me may be at the Chopra level of too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Prem. Time will tell. Very handy left foot anyway.

    Agreed.

Lambert waved a magic wand over supposed lower league level players at Naaarwich last season though. Snodgrass strikes me as the kind of player who could overachieve under his stewardship. If nothing else because they can regale emotive tales of watching the Scotch ransacking England in Braveheart

The Sun is reporting beautiful things:

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4442497/Sunderland-sign-Stephen-Warnock-and-James-Collins-from-Aston-Villa.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The language suggests it's done rather than rumour, though wait for official confirmation before starting the party. DISGRACE obviously feeling guilty and starting to pay us back for all the shit he caused cheers

Wonder if he fancies Hutton as well for a hattrick Very Happy

It's a fine old stadium, not a cauldron of noise, but not a library either. Atmosphere generally depends how Villa are doing really - last season was probably pretty shit!

It's gonna be different for community shield than it would be for Villa game, so can't really say what it'll be like..Should be good if it's full, you'll have a pretty even split of City/Chelsea fans.
