Was watching a bit of the Portugal game, but Kuwait are terrible, so I stoped watching it. The Brazil v Turkey game is more exciting.

Argentina lost 2-1 to Algeria, apparently because of mistakes from the defense and goalkeeper.

England goals: Richardson (penalty, so everyone can relax, he didn't really score from a piece of good play), Reo Coker, Taylor, Huddlestone, Lita.

    England U21 5-0 Slovakia U21

England Under-21s thrashed Slovakia in a friendly as Stuart Pearce's side rattled in four second-half goals.

Kieran Richardson's penalty put England ahead after Ashley Young was tripped.

Just past the hour Nigel Reo-Coker's deflected volley extended England's lead before defender Steven Taylor stabbed home the third goal.

Tom Huddlestone curled home the fourth while Leroy Lita grabbed the fifth with a calm finish, England going on to win a practice penalty shoot-out 4-3.

Pearce, the U21s coach, saw the shoot-out as good preparation for the European Championships which start next week in Holland.

Having famously missed a penalty in a 1990 World Cup semi-final shoot-out before redeeming himself against Spain at Euro 96, Pearce wanted to test his players under the pressure of match conditions.

The senior England team has not won a shoot-out since Pearce drilled in his penalty against Spain, and Sven-Goran Eriksson recently outlined his regret at not taking a "mental coach" to last year's World Cup.

    # England U21 coach Stuart Pearce:

"I was disappointed at half-time. We let the opposition pass the ball too much and gave them too much room.

"I said a few things and they reacted to that and put a good performance on.

"Ever since we met up for the training camp we have had a penalty shoot-out after every training session.

"We are learning from it. To have a penalty shoot-out in front of a crowd like that is invaluable experience."

Fantastic goal too - didn't just smash it into the crowd as most players would have done, but instead went for something different. Cr@p defending though.

Argentina Agelia finally ended 4-3...really a fucking disgrace...awful just awful first half...Most of our players were $h!t really...for those of you who are interested in how your club players did...don't expect much, here are my ratings:

should be shot in both legs and never again be allowed to wear the national jersey:

Abbondanzieri (was the worst player of the field...both sides)

    Just Awful :
    Burdisso
    Gago
    Milito
    Crespo

    Mediocre ones:
    Ayala
    Tevez
Lucho Gonzales...apparently this one had an inspired game...usually he's in the first category

    did OK:
    Gabriel Milito
    Javier Pinola
    Zanetti
    Cambiasso
    Mascherano
    Aimar

    Messi
