Aren't there 16 fixed direct qualifiers?? And didn't liverpool have to qualify from teh first round the year after they won??

Thats because they finished the league 5th the season before and Everton went through as 4th so it was a special case.

I know... Milan finished 4th, so they should be in the 3rd qualifying round along with Lazio, who finished higher than them in Serie A!

    Fucking biased UEFA!!

I think the rule change was that the club who won would go directly into the group stages in future, but I did think they might take the place of roma and maybe roma would have to qualify and that wouldn't have been fair either.

It definitely would be a tragedy if Sevilla failed at the last hurdle after two tremendous seasons. I still think the UEFA Cup winners should get an automatic CL spot.

Another team (2nd or 3rd in one of the small leagues or whatever) should lose its spot in the qualifying round.

Does anyone know exactly how the seedings work for the final qualifying round? Obviously the top teams can't draw each other, but how many teams are seeded, and will there be many good teams who can draw the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Sevilla, Valencia, Ajax etc.

Rangers are atrocious, and their manager has an appalling away record in Europe. France Football confirmed what most already know about Rangers. Paul Le Guen should have read this before embarking on managing that embarrassing club.

'Rangers have been dubbed "the stupidest club in Europe by France Football magazine. Senior correspondent Christophe Larcher condemned Rangers in a scathing attack on Strasbourg's opponents in the UEFA Cup first round. He said, "Rangers have spent fortunes on second-rate players and they keep getting knocked out in the first round of European competition. For these reasons they deserve the title of the stupidest club in the continent. As if further proof was needed, they went out against Gothenburg in the European Cup qualifiers after a 3-0 thrashing in Sweden".'

Celtic has a chance of getting to the group stages, and if they do I hope they get the following

Good point, Rangers have spent a lot of money in the past. But less in the recent years. I believe Murray wants to sell up now.

They did beat Parma a few years ago if my memory serves me correctly. So its not all a waste.

Yeah, Murray wants to sell Rangers but he has a major problem: who’s going to buy a debt-ridden club who struggle to get into the financially lucrative CL, and whose domestic TV revenue is abysmal when the same investors can buy a Championship side for the same or less money and possibly gain a much greater return for their investment?

The only group who’d consider buying Rangers given the poor market they operate in, their massive debts, and a better supported, financially superior, well managed – they are run by the once acting head of the Bank of England for God’s sake – and an overall superior competitor in every respect are Rangers fans themselves.

Indeed, a consortium lead by a crooked Northern Irish businessman expressed an interest in Rangers, but at a price much lower than Murray’s pride would allow him to accept.

Look at it this way, Celtic bought Scott Brown for £4.5 million, Steven Naismith won the young player of the year ahead of him, yet Rangers offered Kilmarnock £250,000!!! That derisory offer accentuates Ranger’s financial meltdown.
