Whenever I've watched Lucchin he's looked very average. I think that may be the reason Atletico are in for Javi Garcia - to partner Raul in the centre of midfield.
Will be interesting next season, with the possibility of three Garcia's in the same team

He's good at organising the midfield. But during the first half Gloria pressured him into making loads of misplaced passes.
The only player who played well for them I'd say was Seitaridis, who tried to support Maxi whenever he could.

Perhaps the poor midfield and attack (with players out of position like Petrov) caused unnecessary pressure on the defence and made them look worse? Because on paper that back 4 is quite decent.

Believe me, the defence was clueless, and although the midfield didn't help too much, Perea, Eller and L Franco seemed to have decided not to talk to eachother at all.
