All I read every day is about some new problem with the ownership. Apparently Wise barely has a squad to work with, and most of the players he does have are teenagers...is the club going to fold?

Re: Leeds
I'm surprised no businessman is interested on taking them on as a project - the potential is huge.
To think that just 6 years ago they were playing in the CL semi finals!

Could Arsenal be the next Leeds? I mean im almost always right when it comes to football....but back then I predicted Leeds would dominate the EPL for the upcomming years. And would continue their run in Europe. Shame it went different, always liked Leeds.

We're nothing like Leeds - Leeds spent money they didn't have. We're famously tight with our transfer dealings.

Yes they could...Arsenal fans may say otherwise...but they have got themselves into debt and have banked on CL football. If like Leeds they fail to do so, then they are in trouble. Arsenal are less naive than Leeds and would probably be able to get through it.
Also losing Arsenal would be terrible...Leeds were just a boring and dirty team with a load of wanker fans.

Arsenal will only get into trouble like Leeds, if they spash out outrageous amount of money on there transfers fees....
But the Arsenal Board minus Dein, are prudent and businessmens, so that will never happen...

Thats why I said you'd get through it...
But you have got into debt over the stadium and have banked on CL football to pay for it. If Tottenham were to finish 4th you'd have a bit of a mess to deal with...

bascially I think they tried to rip their creditors off by going into administration and then reopening by bates buying the club for very little money. i think he wanted to offer the creditors a penny in the pound in something ridiculous like that
they won't close down though. the club is too big with too many interested parties. the problem is trying to get the ownership resolved before the start of the new season
but do a quick google and you'll find some much better informed articles on it

Ye, I always get the idea that Arsenal is the "fakest" topclub in England, and that it could go down really fast. I mean they dont have the money like Manu or Liverpool or Chelsea have.
But this problem is kinda covered by the fact that Wenger can turn relative cheap talents into topplayers! What if Wenger will leave? Arsenal are doomed!!!!!

We haven't banked on CL football.
We banked on CL football or UEFA cup football for the first couple of years but then the money from the housing developments on our old stadium and training ground will start to come through - and thats hundreds of millions of pounds and will pretty much cover the costs of Ashburton Grove

Not to forgetting letting Emirates splash their brand all over our stadium for the forseeable future.

Re: Leeds
dirty club with racist fans
About 10 years ago I was at elland road and had to leave the ground because a couple of fans decided to be racist towards me and few hundred strangers in the stand joined in with them. Topped off with the stewards asking me to leave in order to avoid trouble about 20 mins into the game.
Ever since then I have looked forward to them going out of business. I really can't understand it when some people say they have a soft spot for leeds, or that leeds have good fans?

Re: Leeds
I have heard mixed reports about Leeds fans. The ones I know personally are fine but I've seen (and heard about) plenty of bad behaviour too.
The clincher for me is that they hate Man U, so the're basically OK - probably why I generally get on OK with Citeh and Arsenal fans too (and why Evertonians and Man U fans seem to form natural allies).

Re: Leeds
I dont like Leeds fans since its kicked off a few times when ive been down there watching City and they acted like dick heads. Also i have a good few mates from Leeds and they say leeds fans are dicks in general. Plus they've been $h!t since going down from the Prem and their ave attendence has been about 18,000, where have all their loyal fans gone ? (they arnt dead cos they got 40,000 when they got to the play-offs last year) they will be down to about 14,000 next season.
As for the club they have 17 pro's, 5 of which are youngsters and 1 proper defender in Frazor Richardson. Out of the 17 Healy and Blake are supposed to be on their way and im sure Cresswell, Lewis, Westlake etc wont want to stay, but im not sure if Leeds could turn down any bids or buy anyone other than the 3 emergancy transfers the FA are goingto allow them. Basically i think they are fucked, i cant believe the bookies have them down as second fav's cos they will struggle to make the play-offs even with the 17 players they have.

My Dad's a Leeds fan so I understandably have a bit of a soft spot for them - back when I was younger they were my most watched club.
Their fans aren't the nicest though. Its a lie that northern people are more friendly

Man United and Everton aren't no where near as cosy as Liverpool and Arsenal.
I think the only team we have decent relations with are Spurs, as they always cheered us on when we played Arsenal.

Our fans don't mind Arsenal. Simply because we hate Tottenham and Chelsea. Also we don't like you or Liverpool...which leaves us with Arsenal to like.

Personally apart from your managers comments at the end of the season...I have no problem with Man Utd.
But...there seems to be a dislike between both sets of fans. I know many Man Utd fans who were looking forward to sending us down...(they were left disappointed)

Living in Leeds- the reason for the drop in fan numbers is that the price to watch them play has gone UP since they got relegated to try and scramble back some money- 25 quid on the door nowadays; not even the most hardcore fans can afford that kind of money to watch first division football.
Leeds fans are a mixed bunch- bad reputation but ive met a lot of sound fans since ive been up here, but also a lot of nobheads too.

That wasn't a poke at Saints, I actually know a couple of Southampton fans who describe Man U as their second team. Which is a bizarre concept to me - who will they support when Saints get promoted?

Saints, obviously. Just like you 'support' Liverpool when they play Arsenal, but support Arsenal the rest of the year...
