God, I forgot Shearer was a pundit.

...Anyway, great goal by Martins. They highlighted many of the newcomers. Just a bit dissapointed they didn't say anything about Petrov.

Petrov tended to hog the ball, thats what I saw watching the match.

Petrov done well though...there were often times he'd hog it but play a decent pass into the middle in which Man City could break. Hamann was a bastard today.

Good to see Hansen has firmly leapt off the Arsenal bandwagon...

I can't remember they said anything about McCarthy's state after the match. It looked like some kind of mild concussion - he was using up more oxygen than he had so he fainted. At best McCarthy's out for at least three weeks. Blow for Blackburn.

I thought Liverpool looked impressive - they came across much more dominating and dangerous than they had last year.

All in all I think the most dissapointing was Spurs so far.

Strange Shearer praised Keane , Hansen always rated Keane as a player .. no pundit has said Sunderland will struggle (only Merson , but he gets everything wrong)... maybe its the Keane factor , came across well in front of the camera and was honest.

Not MOTD , but I'm sure Jamie Redknapp is afraid of Keane lol!

According to Hansen...everyone will be okay this season. As long as they show Character and determination..

It was one game Rai...I don't think any team should be judged until 10 games in. Things change quickly. When we were bottom of the league on 20 points with 9 games to go...apart from me, who said we'd stay up? very few. Ale

    @ Deano

I know it was 'one' game , but i think for a team like Sunderland who could 'collapse' anytime soon , this could be a morale boasting win.

I'm not worried for West Ham , you have players returning and when West Ham go on a run .. European place is the destination.

Sunderland faced a weak Tottenham. They did however show that they can battle and were well up for it. I think Sunderland may just get out of it.

Bit dodgy that. If Sunderland play every game like they did today they'll stay up. They won't break the top 10 though.
But remember Watford last year, despite losing King, were really battling all teams and lost all their first 10 matches by one goal. They never got battered - which shows character and determination - but they just didn't have enough to stay up in the end.

We'll see. Sunderland can stay up, but are still relegation candidates. They however, do not have the talent to break the top 10. 12th place max - if that.
