Just trying to get a feel for what leagues people maintain an interest in, and to what extent. Just say whether you regularly watch full matches each weekend from that league, or just highlights (extended or goals only), or just check the scores. Also list them in order of most important to least important to you (ie. how much time you spend on that league) if you can. Mine:

    1. Spain - full matches and highlights
    2. Premiership - full matches and highlights
    3. Germany - goal highlights
    4. Italy - goal highlights
    5. Holland - scores, occasional goal highlights
    6. France - scores
    7. Portugal - scores
    8. Spanish Segunda - scores and occasional goal highlights
    9. English Championship - scores towards the end of the season when the promotion/playoff stuff gets interesting
    10. MLS - I'll occasionally watch a match on TV, but otherwise I don't even bother checking the scores or standings.

And every once in a while I'll catch up with the Argentinian and Brazilian leagues by checking the standings or reading an article.

I don't follow football as much as I would like, due to family "obligations" so to speak.

    1. La Liga - full matches (2 a week on average) + highlights + discussion programmes + radio news
    2. EPL - highlights + scores
    3. Eredivisie - highlights + scores
    4. all others - scores

then I watch CL as much as I can and UEFA a little bit.
+ international games with Spain and/or Holland and of course the tournaments.

You heard of East Bengal and not of Mohun Bagan?? Thats like hearing of Inter and not about Milan... you are a good man Wink Mohammedan Sporting & Tollygunge Agragami are the other clubs from Bengal, but are no where near the above two. These are the legacy clubs from West Bengal, one of the football crazy states in India.

Then there is Goa, which has Dempo SC, Salgaocar SC, Churchill Brothers SC, Vasco SC & Sporting Club de Goa as the top clubs.

Some other decent outfits of late are Mahindra United (Mumbai), JCT FC (Punjab), & FC Kochin (Kerala).

When I did my college in Goa, we once played the dempo college (the club looks at that as their youth team) in the university championship... we got hammered 3-0 inspite of trying to play our defensive best, and that remains the best team I have ever played against.

Only really follow the Premiership because I can't be arsed to watch so much football. Then I use this place for all other stuff like scores from other places, and the occasional youtube link to a few goals.

Got an Indian mate in the uni who is from Bengal and I think this is his feeding and he is a Inter supporter some pattern emerging?
Why Indians that were capable of watching football in 90s follow Serie A was it shown there more?

I think anyone outside europe who starting watching football in the late 80s or early 90s would fancy Italian football coz all the big players played there... In India, we used to get the 3 european finals, and they usually involved an Italian team, sometimes both teams were italian. Also the complete coverage of the WCs, and most of the stars of WC1986 and WC1990 used to play in Italy.

In the late 90s, espn started showing all EPL games live, and the timing of these games really suits India, so now you will see EPL fans far outnumber any other league.

What is funny about India fans is that in the WC, most bengali end up supporting Italy (and maybe argentina) while almost all goans support Brazil and Portugal. Their style of football is similar, the bengali's are known for their pragmatic tactical approach, while the goans like to go for flair.

Premier league - full matches, highlights, disucssion shows, it's actually mental how much I watch, every single live game when I'm not at the match, match of the day, sunday supplement, goals on sunday, match of the day 2, gillette soccer special, I need to stop.

La liga - Full matches when I can catch them plus Revista de la liga (highlight show) most weeks.

Serie A - Hope to catch the live game every week or most weeks now.

Don't really follow the other leagues to be honest, very rarely I'll watch the championship

    0. All CL games and plenty of UEFA in the latter stages.
    1. EPL - full matches and highlights
    2. Eredivisie - full matches and highlights
    3. La Liga - full matches and highlights
    4. Bundesliga - full matches and highlights
    5. Serie A - plenty of full matches of the uppertable and the highlights I get
    6. Portuguese Superligue - highlights and occasional match between big three
    7 Ligue 1 - highlights when I'm bothered.
    8. And occasional scores from Brazilian, Argentinian, Ukraniain, Russian ligues.

Not too bothered aboutr the rest, and with the exception of the highlights from the La Liga, Bundesliga, Eredivisie and EPL, I'm willing to miss many matches for other activities. When I'm at home or at a mate/pub I'll easily catch a game. It just seems liek a lot, but I think that's exagerated.
