Mourinho for England? Empty Mourinho for England?

Post by fcb Fri Sep 21, 2007 1:13 am

Surprisingly no one has come up with this suggestion yet...I guess a couple of 3-0 wins has *really* earned Mclaren a lot of credit Wink

So, what do you think? Should the English FA offer Sven-esque (or more) wages to Mourinho to take over from Mclaren after an inevitably disappointing Euro 2008 campaign and tournament?

The FA won't appoint Mourinho. Most importantly, he is not a lapdog (which was the main problem for Roman).

This wont happen because it's not possible for either side to make the first move. Can the f.a approach Mourinho without the media finding out? nope so if he says no where would that leave Mclaren. And Mourinho is hardly likely to approach the f.a with Mclaren already there.

already suggested it on the where next for mourinho thread.

mclaren needs to qualify and make at least the qf of the euros or he'll be axed. if mourinho's not got a new job by that time (and i don't think it'd be hugely surprising if he sat out this season to wait and see what comes up in the summer) then i think the f.a. might pay whatever they need to go for him. he'd be a very popular choice in the public & the press and if mclaren fails, they'll probably look to get a foreign manager again.

whether he'd want the job is another thing, but he does love media attention and he'd certainly get plenty of that.

I would say yes but a team built round Lampard scares the sh*t out of me.

Mourinho has always said the only national team he wants to coach is ... Portugal.
