After 11 games our friends from the south seem in big trouble.During all the summer our medias were claiming Lyon was sh!t in the market and that the only "ambitious" club was...Marseille.

When Lyon was selling (one more time)their best players (Malouda,Tiago,Diarra,Berthod) well our friends from Marseille them bought "top players" according to the medias thanks to the money they won last season finishing 2 second.
They bought Cisse, benoit Cheyrou,Ziani,Zenden,Givet,Mandana but unfortunately excepted 1 good game at Anfield they have been horrible since the beginning of the season.Well the frenchies what do you think about that ? do you think marseille will improve with the new manager or do you think as usual it will be an other complicate season with a lot of events ?

They will perform better under Gerets, underrated coach.

I hope for them but that's a kind of paradoxe...

Last season they had a good team and this season they only sold Ribery..with the money they bought 3-4 good players for improving their team and strangly they are in big trouble! Difficult to understand..I thought they were at last going to challenge Lyon for the title but as usual they are doing a "yoyo" (one year up one year down)

He's been decent enough, he's had Alan Smith playing on the RW infront of him though so it's unfair to judge.

None of the players they bought are really that great nothing compared to Ribery who has been a revelation for Bayern.

Is the CL distracting them? They're doing quite well in that and maybe it's difficult to cope with 2 competitions at once.

Marseille is like me, slow starters. We just like to make things interesting, let the opposition get a little bit excited. It's boring if you just crush them from the get go. Marseille will start mounting their comeback slowly chipping away at the opposition's lead. Biggrin <Ale>

I think Gerets will change things, but this will take time. You can't expect miracle things to happen suddenly. Gerets is a clever manager who will motivate his troop. That's crazy that each story it's the same story concerning big clubs, they often underchieve. Last year Monaco started awfully, then they sack their coach, this year it's Marseille and Lens, two teams that should be competing for the first places. To be successful teams need stability. They also need to keep their best players, or replace the leaving ones by the same quality. I really hope Gerets can stay a long time and stabilise things or Marseille.
