I think all these players, except Ribery will be on the bench, because they are rather young and unexperienced at the higher level.
Upfront Henry and Anelka will be paired, Vieira will be playing with Makelele, and Malouda will be prefered to Ben Arfa. This line up is more likely to be implemented for the wc 2010.
I still think Ben Arfa should be tried rather than Malouda because he offers more danger upfront. As for Nasri I don't really know if he could be useful.

Its a good point 'cos he's not very old and could play instead of Benzema.

No one seemed to expect France to do well at WC but they did because they had the experience.

However, while I'm a believer that its hard to win the big tournies with youth, it would be beneficial for them long term to play the youngsters.

Yes, it will be beneficial, for sure. They lack international level.
One good thing at least is that they are all playing champions leagues games, so that's a good experience. They have played several international games as well, but not against top teams.
Amongst the young ones I believe Ben Arfa could be the surprised though.
During the Korea peace cup he played magnificently against River plate and Bolton, he also did very well against Stuttgart in the champions league. What France lack is clearly on the left attacking side.

Anelka could be a surprise as well. You did well to mention it, a gooner. He has scored quite a lot of goals for both Bolton and France. His partnership with Henry is much better than with Henry-Trezeguet or Henry-Cisse. He seems to have mature a bit.

    They're too different IMO.

Aquilani will take over the Pirlo role eventually whilst Montolivo will play further forward.

I would say Aquilani as I think he will be a true World Class player and although he isn't that young he will be a late-peaker.

Its a very tough call. Aquilani is more of a finished product than Montolivo at the mo, but on talent I think Montolivo shades it. For Euro2008, I think Aquilani would be better (and I think he has a much better chance of making the squad, if he comes back from injury in good form). But 3-5 years down the line, I think Montolivo will be the better player of the two.

Among this new breed of talented attacking players (from last years azzurini) - Rosina, Foggia, Montolivo, Aquilani, Palladino, & Pazzini, I would rate them as follows:

Chances of making the Euro2008 squad:
    Aquilani > Foggia > Palladino > Rosina > Montolivo > Pazzini

In terms of talent in the respective roles, IMO:
    Rosina > Montolivo > Aquilani = Foggia > Pazzini = Palladino

But this is all speculative, things can change as these players are still clearly developing. They are all very talented, and they all could go on to become regulars in the future for azzuri.

Actually they are not that different, both can play the Pirlo role. IMO Montolivo is more like Pirlo than Aquilani. Pirlo in his young days also started in a Kaka-isque role. Montolivo has a very similar vision of space and passing ability.

Montolivo probably isn't as good on the ball as Pirlo though - in terms of striking it and manipulating it. I know he's young and can improve that. Obviously though, he has more of a physical element to his game than Pirlo.

Re the question, Aquilani by quite a way for me. Agree with Pierre that he *could* become a top class player.
