saw this yesterday, the top 25 list is awful but apparently based on a scoring system and ffs how is giggs ahead of John Charles for Wales.

Awful! It clearly shows the average poster on 606 to be a more retarded version of luis.

For example, I'm a big Stockport fan, and they've voted Luke Beckett the best ever player. Now, this is complete and utter bollocks - he was decent, maybe the best for a couple of seasons quite recently, but the best ever Stockport player was either Andy Preece or Kevin Francis.

The top 25 players of all time list was compiled based on statistics, published in some book. As the article says, the list is based firstly on international games - the quality of international team played for, that international teams results, number of appearances for the team, goals scored, how many times a player captained the team - essentially, it takes everything regarding a players performances for international teams into the account. At club level, it only considers honours (so trophies alone, disregarding goals, captaining the team and so on). Finally it looks at individual honours, player of the year awards and things. So its very biased towards players who have excelled for a big team at international level, which explains the lack of George Best, for instance.

Considering the biased viewpoint the list takes, I actually thought its top 25 wasnt too bad.

The top player for each club list was compiled by the PFA, collecting the votes from supporters (it doesnt say when or how).
