If you don't like them multi-talented, honest, and aware of offside, then he's the man

Inzaghi is a funny player. He's awful, he falls over twice a minute. He cant control the ball. He's offside 10 times per game. he misses the easiest chances. But somehow he has an amazing scoring record

I can't read German, but I assume you either can't read it as well or the site is just wrong. Perhaps both.
"His goal also meant that 'Super Pippo' has overtaken Gerd Müller to become the only player to have scored 63 goals in UEFA club competition." - CL, UEFA cup, Cup Winners Cup, Super Cup etc.
"Inzaghi, who has now made 98 appearances in UEFA club competition, is also 12 goals shy of the all-time UEFA Champions League goalscoring record, currently held by Raúl González of Real Madrid CF"

Obviously the older players suffer from having played less games due to the format changes in the competition.
Which makes RvN's record even more impressive - his goals-to-games is close to Mueller, Eusebio, and Di Stefano.

Even big Ruud fans realise his sale was a masterstroke. To call it silly since the success since his departure and lack of success with him is bizarre.
Stam - well he got banned for drug taking not long after, it wasnt a coincedence

He also played some of his career's best football at Lazio.
IMO, ManU would have done better with RVN now that he would ve had players like Ronaldo, Tevez, etc creating for him.

that is hard to say. in the start of the season man utd might not have had all those problems with scoring had they had him but i think man utd has found a better flow in their game now because they dont play with a focual(sp) point. anyway inzaghi deserves alot of praise imo because few makes as many deep runs as him and he does it constantly thats why he is soo much offside. few players would continue making those runs if they dont get in and end up running back.bluenine wrote:He also played some of his career's best football at Lazio.

You are probably right.
And yeah, Inzaghi deserves credit for all his effort... he may get offside a zillion times, but has the knack of beating the offside trap so often as well... thats his biggest strength, and he does it frequently enuf to deserve respect.
I still don't like him tho.

We have to remember a couple of factors explain why there are a number of modern day footballers right at the top of the list.
1.) there careers go on longer generally speaking
2.) the players in the list played a hell of a lot more European games in a time when there were two group stages, of which we still have one group stage left.

Don't think so. Ronaldo was outstanding for Portugal but rarely hit those heights with man utd with rvn in the team. Rvn was a problem in that defenders could push a higher line due to his lack of pace, and ronaldo had less space to work with. His departure is partly the reason why ronaldo has changed from a good player to one of the best out there.
Fitting tevez rooney and rvn in the same team is a problem in itself also.

RVN will break it.
PErsonally I think it would be more fitting. Or Raul for that matter. Much more deserving. I don't rate Inzaghi as a player that much but he has done well for his ability.

Funny that Robinho is somewhat the same type of player, he seems to have blossomed since playing with Ruud in the team....

The madrid fans wanted him gone just a few months ago, so it's only lately.....and his good form began when ruud was out injured
