If the injured players get fit and get a run of games over the next few months, the German squad will be twice as fresh as any other in Europe. That will give them a huge advantage over the others, as well as already having a pseudo-home crowd.

Re: Why Germany will win Euro 2008
it's a big disadvantage for Germany
Poldi , Schweini, Metze and Co are all subs now
and there is little chance of this changing
key players like Frings, Boro and Schneider could easily travel to Austria with rusty limbs as well
now Gomez and Kuranyi are out injured
all the next Mannschaft preparation games will be played with makeshift teams
just think of the German C-team that defeated England at Wembley
curiously, nowadays, we have a sufficiently strong system and bench to arsewhip England at home with our C-string, possibly even G-string (the U-19)
but this might not work against Italy in the Semis
it's looking bleak, and some people would think we were doomed, but somewhow I just think our worst is still too good for others' best

Re: Why Germany will win Euro 2008
Yup a lot of people are expecting Germany to win the next euro.
It's strange the differences of point of view about footie between some countries!
i'm sure in France no one really rates Germany.I'm even almost sure people there rate more England than Germany.
Perso i'd say it will be close between top teams like germany,France,Italy and maybe Portugal.Wait and see

Re: Why Germany will win Euro 2008
explain yourself, arnaud
after 2006 and the following qualifying campaign, why is Germany rated so lowly in France
and why do you believe that France has a decent chance of winning in Austria when your team had so many problems at the qualifying stage and has hardly impressed for a long time

I'm just surprised to see how in the english medias (what the f@ck the know about football ?!?!) Germany is so highly rated at the moment.
I'm just saying there,in paris, medias talk more about Italy or France than Germany to win the euro.
Otto my friend..i'm not even kidding! Germany is the new "chouchou" of the english medias! i even expect some englishmen to support you next summer.Good luck

It seems a miracle that you are able to read, digest and opine about English Media, when you can hardly even speak the language.

then again: you have mastered it rather better than the other foreigners on here

You might be right, but don't forget there's a big difference between active and passive knowledge of a language (understanding it versus constructing your own sentences)....

Yeah, that was a bit over the top Herr Bernd. Arnaud isn't right on this one though – the article is after all written by a German for an American site.

I respect his attempts to write in English wholeheartedly. I really do.
However, unlike you, who have lived in the UK and clearly have a 100percent grasp of the language aswell as the culture,
irrespective of whether I agree with your oft shameless criticism, at least it has a modicum of foundation.
Arnaud, on the otherhand, has none of these, thus it is harder to take such throw away comments seriously.
By the way, he does have a point though - France are still the more dangerous side of the two; better players, a team who reached the final on your backyard despite having a numpty as a manager,
but crucially the difference is two fold:
France have more experience, and are also tougher. And they are realistically the only side in Europe who can beat the Italians.
I expect Germany to come 3rd, again, to these two.

Why the hell is there so much hatred on me ??? am i responsable if England wasn't good enough to qualify for the euro with some WC players according to their medias.i even rememeber Bilc, the Croatia coach talking out the arrogance of the english medias.
He has read that some english medias claimed no croatian players could play for the english national team...
I was just saying that now english medias seem to rate highly Germany.

French Media >> Rest of Europe, hands down
L'Equipe magazine asked this question: 'What was the best European game ever?' Many European journalists voted, and the winner was...
Ajax Amsterdam - Bayern München 4-0
(Arie Haan 53', 70' - Gerrie Mühren 67' - Johan Cruyff 89')
Olympic Stadium, Amsterdam
