Voronin ruled out for six weeks

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin faces six weeks on the sidelines following confirmation he needs an ankle operation to repair ligament damage.

The Ukrainian suffered the injury in training early this week and the problem is worse than first thought.

The 28-year-old will certainly miss the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League tie with Inter Milan next month.

Voronin, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen in July, has scored three goals in 11 Liverpool appearances.

Best news I've heard all season...

Seriously though I don't wish injury on any of our players but Voronin doesn't belong at Liverpool IMO, i'm not sure he belongs at any Premiership club, I fail to see what he can offer.

Unlikely. It will be Crouch and Torres hopefully, Babel deserves to start though but it will no doubt be on the left wing.

I'm not exactly pleased...we play Lverpool at home on Wednesday, and was hoping that Voronin would play. Not that I'm worried or anything, it's just like playing 11 vs 10 when they have Voronin.

Apart from the fact that makes absolutely no cohesive sense.

I was just drawing a reaction out of you, far too easy to get you to bite Deano Ale Laughing

Should be a good game, i unlike Luis expect Rafa to play Benayoun but i like Luis would prefer Pennant to start to offer some more width ok

Voronin would have started with Crouch against Haven't, then you'd have seen his awesome potential. He'll leave in the summer. I think he's a decent player but he doesn't fit the system, in an ideal world we'd have kept Bellamy but his personality wouldn't allow it.

he's a decent support striker, Raf's employed him mostly in the Defensive AM position or stuck him wide. He's not quick enough to be a winger or cultured enough to be an attacking midfielder, nor has he had the time to develop a partnership. He's good technically and has a shot on him but playing him out of position sporadically has blown his confidence and a striker without confidence is pointless.

Disagree...He's started most of his games as a 2nd striker, or in some cases a regular striker, and he's failed to make any sort of impact. His contribution has been poor wherever he's played on the pitch - His first touch is poor, he can't dribble, he's not pacey, he's not particularly creative and he can't shoot to save his life.

he's been poor for us, but I see quality in him. I doubt he'll ever shine under Rafa and expect him to leave in the summer.

Will Rafa risk Torres against Havant and Waterlooville? Surely Liverpool reserves should be able to do the job. Or perhaps Rafa has given up the league and will field a strong side against the non-leaguers and rest some players against the Hammers knowing that game is as good as lost already. Wink
