Copa del Rey - 1/2 finals

Semifinals of the Spanish cup take place on Wednesday and Thursday...first up is Valencia visiting the Camp Nou, and on Thursday it's Getafe hosting Racing. The 2nd match could go either way though I'd give Racing the edge, whereas with Valencia's ongoing crisis Barça will be favourites in the first tie. I think we need a minimum of a win at Camp Nou, preferably with no away goals conceded. A draw will not be a good result.

Looks like both teams are going for it. Really Valencia's easiest route to Europe for next season.

Beautiful football from barca. They've been all over valencia this half: 9 shots to 1!

Yaya Toure is a beast of a footballer. People have been labelling any huge black midfielder the new vieira but this guy is a carbon copy. I remember at one moment he won the ball at the edge of his area, effortessly went past 3 players ran the whole length of the pitch to the other end, played short one two with henry and hits the ball, pity his shot was blocked..changed defence into attack in a matter of seconds; that's vieira at his best

YAYA as been Awesome, so has eto'o he as been alll over the place right,left,center and dropping deep when needed and xavi as been good as well.

Xavi with a goal at the death. It's the least Barcelona deserve from the match. Hildebrand was excellent, the MOTM and his best performance that I've seen in a Valencia shirt. Very frustrating match for Barcelona.

how we didn't score at least 3 goals i will never know, Hildebrand was just fucking awesome , valencia were very lucky with their goal no one was in their correct position a few seconds after the subs and they took advantage of it.

Messi was a bit selfish today their were two occassions where he should have cut back the ball to henry and eto'o and he didn't and that really cost of guess he just want to score on is 100th apperance for the team.

Really enjoyed this match, a great performance from both teams, for very different reasons.

First of all, Valencia, based on a defence that was unusually committed and hard working, and a fantastic display from Hilderbrand between the sticks! The midfield did their fair share to keep out the Barca onslaught today as well, Banega seems to have it all and Maduro looked good too.

With the defence in the form it was today and the attack (David Villa) in the form it was against Betis last week - and a top four finish isn't completely out of the question.

Another good performance now needed at the Mestalla to make sure Valencia have a place at the Bernabeu, when is the second leg?

Great match but a frustrating result. It's often like this with the Ches. Blaugrana play beautifully, Valencia dispossed of the ball and then one counter attack and Villa with the executioner's song.

March 19th

Hilderbrand, his two CB and maduro were the deferse for valencia in the match, can't believe we didn't win but i'm happy with the preformance but i'm confident we can win at the mestalla.

Banega played okay. He was very good in the tackle tonight, although his distribution wasn't what it could have been. There was one or two situations where he won the ball back and then played wild balls that the Barca defence collected with ease.

Benega was very good in the 1st half and both defending and starting the play form deep, but he sat back in the second half and did he job.

Surprised Otto has missed the chance for a go at Rijkaard...but yes, last night Hildebrand was unbeatable. But so far this season he hasn't been too solid. Maybe this is the confidence boost he needs.
