Post by Bashmachkin Mon Apr 21, 2008 3:23 pm

Roy Keane is a loser in more respects than just the one regarding this weekend's derby loss being the first such loss in his career. After branding the other Premier League managers 'hypocrites' for their various comments regarding respecting referees, and proudly affirming 'I've made it clear to everyone here that a lack of respect towards referees will not be tolerated', around five of his players ran to surround the referee this weekend after only a few minutes of the game, when a corner was given against them. And several of his players reacted in an insolent manner towards the referee throughout the game, on the number of occasions when they made blatant fouls on Newcastle players. I suppose Keane at least didn't partake in the haranguing of officials - he just sat slouched, looking vaguely smug, presumably irritated, for most of the match. All this said, I think Sunderland are safe this season.

I think English football in general is xenophobic, in the players that get favoured by officials, in the players that get hyped, and, ultimately, in some cases, in the players that managers tend to play, support, give chances to. Like 110% says, the issue is first and foremost the double standards, whilst this particular incident also highlights how Ferguson manipulates the referees in this country, or is simply favoured by them regardless of any manipulation.

It's kind of surprising to me how many high-scoring games Villa have been involved in this season - lots of 4-1's, 4-0's, 4-4's. They have the players to score from Young's deliveries, and with Young and Agbonlahor, they can stretch teams, but I hadn't realised how many goals they'd scored - more than anyone away from home this season, and the fifth highest scorers at home - or conceded. I guess I'd considered them a bit more of a conservative team, with the two defensive minded full backs, with Barry, Petrov and Reo Coker in midfield.

I reckon Berbatov will still be at Tottenham next season.

I agree that Rooney could of been sent off but how is there proof that Ferguson manipulated the ref to not do so?

I hope so - I reckon his agent is stirring $h!t just so he can get a big cut of his transfer fee.

There's alsop an element of Bulgarian media being desperate for their best player to go and play for Mn Utd/Milan.

I will not tolerate Berbatov being sold to an EPL team.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

On the whole paranoia over Rooney - he should have been sent off.

Mascherano got what he deserved, and it was good Karma considering what happened with Aliadere.

Gerrard, Terry, Lampard also get away with a tonne of $h!t too - they are also the "Marquee" English players, it's no surprise.

    * should have

Almost EVERY time united lose ferguson rants on the touchline and then afterwards in the press. He has been a master at applying pressure on officials for years. He is just lucky he does not lose very often

There is obviously no proof of this, other than opinions formed on the basis of viewing fergie over the years.

There's no proof that Ferguson manipulated the referee so that he didn't send Rooney off yesterday. Ferguson manipulated the referee before the Liverpool game, and received a result during that game that was favourable to him, which result didn't repeat itself yesterday when it would have been unfavourable.

Hasn't Ferguson been charged twice, and been banned from games and fined by the F.A this season ?

I think it's more a case of him being a master psychologist, rather than him actually having anyone in his pocket.

Yeah, I don't actually think that Ferguson does have anyone in his pocket. But I do think that Man Utd fulfill various requirements that enable them to get, on the balance of things, more than their share of favourable decisions - mainly, they have a team that is considered to represent English football, and they are a top club, and I think 'English' clubs, or at least 'English' players, get favourable decisions, and top clubs get favourable decisions. Added to this, Ferguson is the master at manipulating other teams and referees, whilst keeping his own side focused, fired up and competitive.

Well conclusive. Liverpool should take it up with the FA using this picture as evidence.

Hardly... doesn't look like that result has impacted our season one jot.

If you want an example of serious Karmic retribution, I'd pick Middlesbrough getting to 2 cup finals, losing both, and getting relegated in the same season. You should never have recruited an ex-Man U player as captain.

    That's Karma.

SAF is clearly explaining the conduct the referees should be adopting or they will be sleeping with the fishes.

I think he doesn't get into more trouble becasue the refs can't understand what he's saying. Wenger, benitez etc all speak better english.

The booing was stupid, but it was more to do with the fact Derby outplayed us the 2nd half, and deserved a draw. Quite worrying really. It's like he even has to be negative and cautious against Derby FFS...really is something wrong with him.

Rob Styles suffers demotion to League Two

A week after officiating at Blackburn's Premier League game against leaders Manchester United, referee Rob Styles will be in charge of Saturday's League Two match between Shrewsbury Town and Chester City.

Styles turned down two United penalty appeals and cautioned Wayne Rooney when he complained about a challenge by Steven Reid.

I hope not...but I'm not sure what Gudmundsson thinks of him. He doesn't suit us, and he has nearly no fan backing at all...doesn't help that he won't show any passion or acknowledge us.

Performances since January have been mostly pretty poor...which is why we have been in 10th for absolutely ages...

Well if you get rid, do it in the summer, otherwise next season could be a long one. And doesn't help that Man. City and Villa in particular will strengthen massively.
