CR v Messi
Last year CR was completely upstaged by Kaka in the ECL semi finals, this season is far less clear cut, BUT who won on points? neither performed to their best, but who was better in the ECL semi final?

Re: CR v Messi
They were both Cr@p, vastly overhyped before the games, vastly underwhelming in what they actually did.
Both spent most of their time giving the ball away. Both had the odd moment of excellent play.

Spot on.
Both teams were so nervous that neither really performed to anywhere near their potential.

I said to L'Arse last night - Fabregas did much more in two legs vs AC Milan than Ronaldo and Messi did in this tie. And I wasn't exactly stunned by Fabregas (as people will remember from my post match comments after the second leg).
But both clubs' fans are blind to the faults of their superstars.

In that Park actually created a goalscoring chance for a teammate (cross that Nani fluffed) whereas Ronaldo and Messi (supposedly the two best players on the planet) didn't.

Ronaldo kinda did - he did that trick and then crossed low to Nani whose shot was blocked and went out for a corner mid-way through the 2nd half.

And Ronaldo produced a decent chance for Park on the edge of the area, and Messi found players in space in the inside left channel three or four times who then did nothing with the ball.
But it was all bits and pieces. Neither dominated the play, neither produced a moment in either leg that changed the course of the tie.

Re: CR v Messi
Messi had the flair and Ronaldo was more industrial. Well just slightly industrial.
Evra however is a monster of a player. I have never seen this guy ever have a bad match.
He's the best left back currently in the world. If he was playing in Spain/Italy he would be up for WPOTY.

Re: CR v Messi
Messi. He is a joy to watch. Over both legs he was comfortably the best player on display. What's more, he's still not fully fit.
Yes he didn't make an assist or score, but if not for Scholes' wonder effort, no would have anyway. He still has much to improve, but he was on a different level to everyone else on the pitch, but sadly an underperforming Barcelona side couldn't give him any substantial support. What most endeared me to Messi over both games and (yesterday's in particular) was his never say die attitude. Kept running and plugging away to the last minute.

But considering the fact that Messi just recovered from a long time injury, Ronaldo should have dominated more. Compared to Messi at least.

Clearly TRW - as HIS efforts helped his team win...Messi a flash in a pan!
Love to see him treated like a biatch if he ever DARED to come to the EPL!

Messi's always injured, and like I said somewhere else, injuries don't force a player to keep dribbling into trouble like Messi spent these two legs doing.
Don't get me wrong, the lad does have fantastic potential and a lot of talent. But I just don't buy into this 'because he kept beating men he was the best player out there' story propagated by some Barca fans. No one particularly stood out for me, not Messi, not Ronaldo either.

Shhhh, apparently having a competitive attitude only counts if you're talking about your favourite player. When other players have it, it's irrelevant.

Ronaldo didn't give up. And I'm sure no one else on the pitch side. But at times Barca looked like one man team. The difference between Ronaldo and Messi? Ronaldo would complain about challenges, Messi would get straight back up and get on with it.

One gets HUGE amounts of protection from refs because of his dimunitive size whilst t'other gets baugger all because of misplaced reputation and refs who either bottle it or try and make a name for themselves by punishing TRW.
YOU should watch the game and open BOTH eyes!

Re: CR v Messi
If Evra would of hacked him down in the box like Abidal did in the first leg, I bet he'd of complained.
Milito obviously set out to get tight as he could to him (including fouling him) or maybe he's just that kind of player. No one had that role assigned to them for Messi.

So your counterargument to everything I've said against Messi is that it's 'obvious' that what I've said isn't true and what you've said is, and a speculation that the drunk and Rolando would agree with you?
And you're hardly a neutral viewer, having led the most ostensive campaign against Ronaldo the board has seen this season.
