They havent surfaced yet, but theres no doubt tonnes of 6-10 year old kids in London who will have become Chelsea fans.

fans in china, africa etc cannot be called plastics as they obsessively follow their team, and are in bars at 3am watching matches etc. There might be a an element of gloryhunting but actually they have no connection to any team in the UK and follow one which they like the football of, and are exposed to at the highest level such as the CL. Therefore they are unlikely to find teams like reading etc in the CL. I did see quite a few fans of chelsea when in hong kong recently, but there were more manu fans than all the other teams combined, including milan, real etc.

The real palstics and gloryhunters though are those fans who live somewhere like london and have 6 teams around them playing the the EPL and still follow manu , eg spanky, nutters, lrd etc. Also their ages clearly show that they clearly are gloryhunters.

I think that ManU winning the CL could have a negative efffect, since it would possibly show that offensive teams need to play defensive in the CL in order to win it.

That's partly why I was very hessitant to root for Arsenal in the final against Farca. Arsenal's awful catenaccio displays (averaging less than a goal per game in the knockout rounds) made me quite disappointed, given that they're generally an exciting team to watch.

So the way I see it is, if Chelsea wins a team that is generally defensive and boring would have won the CL, so not much changes. But if ManU wins, a team that is known for attacking displays would have won it playing defensively, and this could have a worse effect for CL football IMO.

Seeing Ronaldo cry is also a big bonus as usual

Grant to master the universe, I would like Man U to win against any other team including Chelsea if Mourinho was there. Had to get behind the underdog when Grant was appointed. Chelsea have the chance to make this a real cup final to remember. They have the confidence to open the game up more and win against the top teams, something the special one had to much control over which unintentionally hurt his team reaching for the top trophy in club sport...

A city like London needs a CL...I mean dozens of teams yet no EC1. So Chelsea. Also because the balance between Manu and Liverpool will be there, cause I expect Manu to surpass Liverpool in the amount of titles.

If Fergie wins the double this year and wins another league title next year or the year after, he could retire with the club on 18-3 to Liverpool's 18-5. That there would be one of his greatest achievements considering when he joined it was 18 - 4 to 7-1.

Agree with everything. i had the same concerns regarding Arsenal and their dobble standards that year. it was pretty much a lesser of two evils from the four semifinalist.

Surely you want Man U to lose, that way Ronaldo will feel he's got more chance of winning the Cl if he leaves for Real?

With the same token, if he wins the CL win ManU he may feel that he's achieved everything with them and be ready to move on sooner.

Either way, I don't want Ronaldo right now either. Calderon seems stupid enough to spend more than 70 million Euros for him, and with that money we could improve the squad a lot more by making 3-4 quality signings.

Of course not. But when we won it we did it playing attacking football. Now that we're doing badly, it was supposed to be ManU's turn to carry the "attacking team" flag in our absense but Fergie turned into a pussy unfortunately.

Fair game though, ManU made the final and they could end up winning it. Each team has the right to choose what tactics to employ. I wouldn't expect ManU fans to celebrate any less if they win the CL.

That wouldn't change my disappointment in seeing an offensive team turning to the dark side in order to win though.

If by joining the dark side means success, a team like Manchester United who have had not the best years in the Champions League would take it. A lot have been made of the semi final display against Barça, but generally throughout the tournament they have played the game the right way, still think they have to be ruthless and not show teams respect.

If the oppositions don’t ask the questions (i.e. actually score) apart from the 1st leg against Lyon when it mattered no other team has taken the lead against Manchester United this season, lets blame the opposition for not being good enough to score against Manchester United

Manchester United hopefully wins it.

Those who say Man U play negative football, are quite right, only they've played negatively for only 2-3 matches in the CL. Whilst playing attacking football for the past 5 years, they deserve the CL. Nit-picking about 2-3 matches in the CL this season, whilst ignoring their past attacking displays and crowning them $h!t on a stick, is very narrow-minded.
