I was just thinking about the Bundesliga and must say, there ain't many

    at all

contrary to what many people believe Bayern Munich are actually remarkably badly run

by Bundesliga standards, the money they have lost on Bosmans is astronomical

they sacked Heynkess when he was doing just fine

sacked the best manager in the world, Rehagel, when he had just reached the UEFA Cup final

undermined Hitzfeld at a crucial time during this season

failed to understand the importance of investing big time until this season

have done virtually ZERO foreign marketing until a few years ago, etc...

Schalke are a national laughing stock in terms of management: they just sacked the 3rd most successful manager of all time because it was time for somebody of "international standing" and then presented Rutten

    Laugh Laugh Laugh

HSV need about 6 months to appoint a new manager themselves and then end with Jol

    Laugh Laugh

previously, they sold their entire spine and went into freefall

Bremen failed to replace Klose, whom they drove away, bought a dreadful Brazilian for a club record, stick to Schaaf who never wins anything, abort their ambitious stadium rebuilding plans, NEVER spent more than they have in their account, and even refuse to sell the stadium name rights for a few years in order to finalize the new stadium plans

    =

the least ambitious club in Germany

Dortmund have Watzke and Zork and seriously thought that selling Odonkor was a Coup

    Laugh Laugh Laugh

Stuttgart have the always interfering board and supervisory board

Cologne under Overath are suicidal and delusional

Kaiserslautern are self-destructing to such an extent that even the city cannot help them anymore

and 1860 Munich are currently conducting the funniest football soap-opera in Germany where the finance guy gives a press conference rubbishing the President who immediately sacks him

    Yikes Yikes

is it just as bad in YOUR league and why is football , that generates BIG BUCKS still run by amateurs ?

Villarreal has to be #1 in La Liga.

Financially sound, great team will finish second in the league. More so they have built the club from being a sunday leauge team to one of the best in spain ok

If Werder is not a well run club, I really don't know which club is. This is so off the mark that it's absolutely ridiculous to even discuss it. Laugh

    @blut

forget about Schaaf for a second; we are not gonna agree on him anyway

and now explain to me in your very own words how you figure that the stadium plans are a success

    nothing against Hanseatic prudence

but what those clowns are doing to Werder is a scandal

    wahre G

and there is NO WAY you can disagree with that with a straight face and without your nose growing rapidly

    -------------------

Bayer Leverkusen are currently the best run club in Germany

    by a country mile

The whole stadium issue is actually a disgrace indeed. It is very disappointing, knowing that Werder could have easily filled a bigger stadium every week. I blame Müller for that foremost, he did the planning and coordination, and for that, he probably should be sacked.

But we'll get a modern football arena at least, which will generate considerably higher revenues also. And despite the disappointment, it will still have more seasts than Stamford Bridge, for example. It's not like we have a tiny stadium like Leverkusen, it's ok even by Bundesliga standards.

Still, even this disappointing stadium issue does not change anything about the fact that we are one of the best run clubs on the continent. One of the fastest growing clubs, the financially most healthy club, and despite having some substantial disadvantages compared to our competitiors like Hamburg, Schalke and others (regional disadvantages, no help by the government etc.), we have established ourselves as the number 2 club behind Bayern.

We are not just a well run club, we are the best run club in Germany.

    lol!

Leverkusen have probably played even more attractive football than Werder this season despite spending virtually no money at all and just buying cheap Germans

they now have the same stability as Werder with the Voeller-Skibbe combo as well

and don't rely on Brazilians anymore

they even managed to lure Helmes to the club and have also nurtured talents themselves like Adler and Castro

guys like Rolfes have really come into their own also

VOELLER is the best thing to happen to German football since Beckenbauer and before Sammer

and within two years the club will be in the CL semis

something that Bremen under Schaaf will NEVER achieve

    Spending virtually no money? lol!
They spent more than us, I suggest you check out the facts before you make absolutely ridiculous comments like that:

    http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/wettbewerb/L1/1bundesliga/transfers/2007/transferuebersicht.html

The oh so great Völler-Skibbe combo has almost bottled the UEFA Cup qualification this season, and you are talking about the CL semis? Laugh The fans want Skibbe to be sacked already because of this, and you are talking about stability? Laugh

Keep up the good work though. Hyping up this disappointing Leverkusen season only makes ours look much better. Besides, nobody plays more attractive football than Werder, this is not negotiable, and we already showed this by destroying them 5-2 at the end of the first half of this season, when everyone was hyping them up to be the new "Bayern Jäger" already. $h!t happens, they now are "HSV Jäger" (another hyped up team) instead, and will have to play the Metursk Cosmpolitenisks of this world next season, if they are lucky that is.... the SEASON was NOT disappointing at all

the last few games which they all lost, agreed

I forgot about the Vidal expense, which goes to show that Bundesliga clubs should stop buying in South American entirely and rear their own kids more

you hit a sore spot though

it's not only German club mangements that are utterly incompetent, and they ARE

it's the FANS as well: they are fickle and impatient

the worst are to be found in Berlin and Stuttgart

if the Leverkusen lot seriously demand Skibbe's head they don't deserve him anyway

even the Schalke fans sometimes lose it: whistling Kuranyi is just not acceptable

German football will only move to the next level once the boardrooms get rid of the Schusenbergs of the world and once the fans get a grip

    won't happen though, I fear

    not anytime soon

If you think German fans are fickle, I suggest reading the forums of Spanish clubs, or even English clubs these days. And actually, my dear otto, you are the most fickle of them all. You change your clubs (and players to hype) like your underwear.

German football will improve if more clubs follow our example, like most (try to) do these days. Leverkusen is actually one of them. Ale Very Happy

    Great club

Heerenveen might very well have been the best run club in the world for the past 5 years or so.

With Verbeek gone to counter the new (idiot) chairman I'm fearing for their future though....

Heerenveen (the city) has just 28,500 inhabitants (42,754 if you count the surrounding country villages) !!!

The club has a 25,600 capacity stadium that's always sold out, with a huge waiting list for season tickets.

For the size of the club, I'd actually say that Barça under Laporta is very well run. Ok, things have been a mess in the last couple of months, but otherwise it's been good.

Other well run clubs in Spain would be Getafe, and Racing have done an impressive job as well.

Arsenal used to be very well run but with departures of key members of the board it's gone into a bit of disarray. Still very well run though.

If Getafe can sustain their first division status I think definitely they are in with a shout. With a very limited budget they have done remarkably well. Particularly clever with their loan partnerships with Valencia, and more recently, Real Madrid.

And they have hit the mark with every manager they have hired recently from Quique Sanchez Flores to Schuster and now with Laudrup.

Their president deserves alot of credit. there was talk from the board about firing Laudrup and the president stuck in for him around november and it paid off for them. he seems to understand that it can take time to build something. allthough basing your squad on loans is not a great way to do things because it means they arent making alot of money. they only players they can get money from is Uche and perhaps Cortez and Diaz.

Villa's owners are pretty awesome these days.

What other club has their 2nd in command hang out nearly every day on fansite message boards answering everyone's questions, on every minute issue? (General Krulak has over 600 posts on one of the main sites!)

We really struck lucky with this lot, in terms of their attitude towards the club.

Elsewhere I'd say Boro, Everton, Arsenal, Blackburn have good owners
