It's a complicated deal similar to Tevez by all accounts.
Manchester City Executive Chairman Garry Cook says the Club are working closely with the Premier League over City’s interest in Brazilian striker Jo.
The Blues’ boss has been in contact with Premier League Chairman Sir David Richards and assured the league that no player will be brought into the Club who has third party ownership issues.
Garry Cook said: “Jo is a player who interests us and we are currently in discussions with CSKA Moscow and his representatives. We are hopeful of progress.
“I have spoken personally to Sir David and we are keeping in contact with the Premier League on the issue. Manchester City is fully aware of the rules regarding third party ownership of players and any transfers will be completed to Premier League regulations.”
Garry returned to the UK today from a visit to meet Chairman Dr Thaksin Shinawatra in Thailand where the two were able to speak about development plans for the football club.
And while he was in Asia, Garry said he kept in regular contact with Mark Hughes while the Manager continues to make preparations for the new season.
Garry said: “It’s been very useful to go out and sit down with the Chairman and give him my first impressions of the Club.
“Mark Hughes has hit the ground running, and he has been exceptionally busy over the last few days developing his plans on the playing and coaching front, together with creating a Carrington training ground that he is comfortable with.
