Reports in Italy suggest that Sulley Muntari will be unveiled at Inter Milan by the end of the week.
The Serie A champions are believed to have turned their attentions to the Portsmouth midfielder after shelving their plans to sign Chelsea's Frank Lampard.
The Blues ace looks unlikely to be heading to Italy this summer, forcing Jose Mourinho to look elsewhere for new recruits.
He has identified Ghana international Muntari as an ideal candidate and is thought to be closing in on a deal worth 14million euros (£11million).
The 23-year-old's former club, Udinese, have also been made aware that a transfer may be imminent as they would be due a portion of the transfer fee as a result of a clause inserted in the players contract when he moved to Fratton Park
