Manager casualties - who's next?
Football's becoming a bit of a mess now in all honesty, it's exciting to see clubs like City bidding ridiculous money for top class players but all these money men in suits are going to destroy what football's about - the fans and the manager who controls the team. I'm amazed Rafa has stayed in the job so long, I don't know if he'll still be here next year if the American's are still here, I imagine Mark Hughes will run into trouble somewhere down the line, what is the answer? and who's next?

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
Benitez Okay, I think his team plays most boring football, and they will not get as lucky with such late goals anymore. Surely, there will be pressure on him to deliver. I can't see liverpool getting into top 2, and if they flaunt around with results, the owners might lose interest. More so, that this season their CL group will be make or break of Rafa's luck. If they keep getting the results, then he will be safe. I am not that convinced after their abysmal display against liege, and villa.
Hughes (a surety, as the Arabs pracitce their ruthless hire-and-fire, and they will keep firing till they achieve what they set out for )
Ramos (the defence, and center looks so vulnerable, they will lose more points, and I think they will be quite low down the table, leading up to his departure)
Wenger (if some takeover happens at arsenal)
(in no particular order)

Man City will squeeze in to the top 3 to 4 places - thereby squeezing a team out - id say that team would be Liverpool!

Seeing how Everton royally screwed up the summer signings Moyes may be the next to walk/get the sack. Otherwise, if things don't settle down, Ramos and Benitez may also feel the heat. If Sunderland don't finish in the top half, questions will be asked about Roy Keane.

Benitez for sure. Riera flopping will be the last step in his wasteful spending for the owners. Most of the fans have had enough as it is.

I don't need the money COTR. Few bad results in the next few games, and he's gone. He's had money he's had time, the relationship is bad the football is worse, it's just a matter of time this year.

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
There's no way Moyes will be sacked anytime soon. We shouldn't rule out him walking out, but he looked happy after signing Fellaini, so still chances for this are slim. But it all be decided in next few weeks with his decision on finally signing (or not) his new contract.TheCrazy58 wrote:Seeing how Everton royally screwed up the summer signings Moyes may be the next to walk/get the sack.

They shouldn't be if they are remotely realistic. Being comfortably away from the relegation zone should be there aim, they need a bigger leap than they've taken to be getting into the top half.

Is £85m spent not enough for a top half finish?

Keane's wasted money, but at the same time that still wouldn't be enough for a prudent manager trying to do anything in a rush when you have no sort of pulling power for the quality you'd need.

You've got some tough fixtures coming up - the derby, Blackburn, Arsenal, ManU....would the mood stay the same for both Moyes and the fans if you have a run of bad results?
What really happened with the transfers anyway? Do Everton fans feel Fellaini is really worth 15mil?

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
1. Probably fans will blame board for not providing Moyes with enough money for summer moves. Only way for fans being real unhappy with Moyes is him still not signing a new contract, especially if there will be no news/updates regarding this situation.TheCrazy58 wrote:stinger wrote:There's no way Moyes will be sacked anytime soon. 2. He's definitely not worth 15m, but still - on current market only low percentage of players is worth their price. And Fellaini, even overpriced, still will be very useful and will have big impact in the team's midfield.

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
Megson would be quick to be ousted if they had a bad run, I think, as he never seemed a popular choice.
The promoted teams should give their managers time, but Billy Davies got sacked by Derby when it went real bad, so you can't rule out one of them panicking.
Otherwise...Ramos and Hughes will probably be quite high pressure to do well in the league. Hodgson or Keane maybe, if they got into relegation difficulty.
And of course, whoever Newcastle hire will be in danger in a few months.

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
Ironic that the Premiership as a league seems to be going from strength to strength, but two of its larger clubs have already served up some farcical events barely a couple of weeks into the season. Careful what you wish for, I guess, is the moral of this story.
On topic though, I think it'll be the West Brom manager. They came up as champions and supposedly play good football, but in the Premiership for a promoted side lacking quality, you have to play ugly to win.
Juande Ramos will also be under massive pressure unless he can get Pavlyuchenko firing quickly.
And Wenger really should be under more pressure than he is.

Wenger should be, but with Fergie they are the only two managers in the league who have pretty much license to do what they please as managers and still face no pressure from above and both will leave on their own account.
I think he'll step down himself though if he goes trophyless for another couple of seasons.

Good point...though it'll probably be a "step up" into some kind of director role at Arsenal. Unless they've been taken over by Usmanov by then, which Wenger probably won't like.

Re: Manager casualties - who's next?
I think there's literally no chance that Southgate will get sacked this season..he's had a strong start, got his players in, got the fans backing at the moment..and Gibbo doesnt really sack anyone.
If things dont work out by the end of the season I suppose he might go, but I think we'll do well so no matter.
