Villarreal Hunt For New Pires.

Villarreal have been given permission to sign a new left midfielder despite the close of the transfer window last month.

After talks in Madrid, the Liga Futbol Profesional Espanol (LFP) have acceded to the Yellow Submarine's wishes and have given coach Manuel Pellegrini 18 days in which to find a new player.

The special allowance has been made because of a serious injury to new signing Robert Pires, who has joined defender Gonzalo Rodriguez on the sidelines because of a serious knee injury.

Both the 32-year-old Frenchman and his new team-mate have been ruled out of action for the majority of the new season and club president Fernando Roig has therefore welcomed the helpful measures introduced.

"Now we need a left midfielder but we know that the market is very complicated at the moment," he commented.

With most players now settled into their contracts until the transfer window reopens in January, Villarreal face a tough task to find a replacement, although there are strong rumours linking them to a European buy.

I think it's because they signed a player and then he got ruled out for the season not long before the window closed. They don't have special permission to sign another centerback, despite Gonzalo Rodriguez being injured.

I think Sevilla got special permission last year when the lost Ramos right before the transfer window closed.

...if it works like that I don't see why we shouldn't be able to replace Kromkamp

Its a strange decision. Surely they will struggle to find many available players because if another team sells them a player, then that team will not be able to get a replacement either.

not now no as we couldn´t get a replacement, sure it wont be us.

If its major injury " 6 months " then i think its only fair that they are entitled to further time to sign a replacment.

i think perosnally its a liberty, just cos they are a small club they get treated with prefertial treatment if this were a bigger club they´d be told to go to hell. injuries are part of the game and when putting your squad together you should take account of this.

he's at Santos now, under Vanderlei Luxemburgo...and will probably play against Fortaleza on Sunday for the Brasileirao

I agree Frank, but let's face it It's not the first time in Spain that clubs get favoured because of the "behind the desk" work. I mean, basically it's a disgrace how bad managed the FEF, LFP, etc, and how RM and Barça fight for the control of these, that happens to benefit either of them in the field...

I agree 100%, its a travesty what they are doing. The worst thing is i dont see a solution.

They shouldn't be allowed this. The best solution is to force them to promote someone from the youth team, as Frank said, when planning a squad you just have to suffer the consequences of injury. 2 seasons ago we won the Liga with basically 12 players because 4 of our players were out for most of the season with cruciate ligament injuries.

Villarreal are a big enough team to be able to coop with the injury of ONE player.

well Everton were allowed to get a Gk last season because they had all thier keepers out with injuries. But that is a different matter.

Anyway, I doubt it'll do much,Villareal won't do good IMO with this years Riquelme. The word in Argentina is that he's been having lumbar and knee problems and he's been posponing an operation that would take 8 months(or so they say) of recovery since before the WC...

Just don't see him fine this season...
