    Quite a career:

But what interests me most is this:
His next mission took him to Cypriot strugglers Apollon Limassol. He arrived in time to stave off the threat of relegation and a year later they were crowned champions after going through the league season unbeaten.

    Shocked

Out of curiosity, has any other coach had that kind of instant success? Anyone know more about his time with that club...did they have investment in new players in that season, for instance?

    great guy

    old school German

"I'm always a big optimist as a coach," he said. "We have a very young team but we will do everything. The stadium will be full, we will try to do all that we can do (vs England)

"These are young boys. Should we play to finish third or fourth in the group? That is not our goal. Our goal is to win, especially in Minsk."

    Ale Laugh

Rehagel did the same with Kaiserslautern

leading the 2. Bundesliga team into the first league and without changing the squad significantly immediately winning the title

    ------------

his stint at Greece, which had never even qualified for the Euros (I believe) was equally impressive

    -----------

    Daum is another miracle worker

he was put in charge of one of the big Istanbul clubs that was trailing the league leader by about 12 to 14 points, IN MID-SEASON, turned the ship around and won the title

    ----------

Lothar is currently leading the Israeli league with a bunch of no-hopers that have never been near the top

    ----------

Rangnick led Hoffenheim from the 3 league to the 2nd league to the 1. Bundesliga and managed to top the table after not even 7 games, despite operating on an average budget

    whilst playing ATTACKING football

    ----------

there have also been German managers that won the Japanese league with clubs that had not one anything for over 30 years, I believe

    chrissi might know the details

    ----------

    +

there was a German coach who led the Chinese U-21 to the semis of the World Cup , I think

    well, at least the quarters

they went out at the same stage as the mighty Brazilians

considering that the Chinese usually cannot even beat S.Korea, Australia or Japan, let alone qualify for ANY international tournament, that was a major league miracle
