    3 Aston Villa 25 16 51
    4 Chelsea 25 29 49
    5 Arsenal 25 13 44

do we have a 5 horse race for the title or is it now inevitable?

Yesterday Manchester United beat West Ham 1-0 fair and square which for me was the last chance for them to drop points before Liverpool's visit to Old Trafford. United will now be at the very least 5 points clear of the chasing pack going into that game and will be more than confident of taking at least a point.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that United will suffer a run of poor results, particularly with the chance of fatigue caused by fixture congestion, but the size of their squad and the favourable refereeing decisions they seem to contour when struggling mean this is unlikely.

Can anyone else win it? Or has the Big 4 become the Big Number 1, with the others just making up the numbers?

Liverpool is close enough to challenge them, Villa is probably too weak to make it. Chelsea and Arsenal is too far behind.

    Liverpool to take them down

Man Utd are not incapable of dropping points in winnable games. Every season they have the odd surprise home draw against plucky relegation battlers...so Liverpool could still get them, if they win at Old T. However, they need to drop some points soon, as I think others will lose belief if they get 6+ pts clear.

Man U for the Title and luck won't have anything to do with it. All the Top 4 have decisions for them by Referee's and I hate rivals fans making excuses for their apparent failure. (It's still not a foregone conclusion that Man U will steamroll to the title, although it's looking inevitable...)

2 horses, Man U and Liverpool. With both teams getting more than just the rub of the referee's green it should go down to the last couple of games, if not the last game itself.

This keeps the league looking competitive, which help maintain the believability of the EPL brand image.

Saying that, if Villa won it I think we'd all applaud. Except miserable Arsenal fans who put Villa's success this season down to luck.

    :concedingagain:

Plenty of sides left who can park the bus for 90 minutes and only concede 1 goal against them, whether any of them then have the nouse to score from there only set piece of the game in the last minute remains to be seen.

It's over, and it has been for a good 6 weeks, truth be told.

Liverpool are perfectly capable of eking out a win at OT, but they'll need to keep 11 men on the pitch for once.

Manu used to win a lot of matches that way in the 90s as well.

People won't remember though, season 2008-2009 will be the year 90 million pounds of attacking talent was unleashed on the rest of the world to devastating effect.
