Its difficult when you consider so many positions... and what do you consider, form? Class? Reputation?

    Top of my head:
    Messi
    Maicon
    Ronaldinho
    Aguero
    Mascherano
    Julio Cesar
    Kaka
    Robinho
    Pato
    Tevez

In the Dutch league there are 2 future top 10 candidates. That diving c**t from 020 (Suarez) & Romero, who's really impressing as AZ's goalie. Could be on his way to be the best South American goalie ever.

    like bluenine's top 10

Another one in the futures category is Albin (Uruguay) from Getafe. I really like this kid.

2 goals in 2 reserve matches, best player on the pitch in the 53 minutes in his first full game. Injuries have put a stop to anything more. But clearly ahead of the likes of Insua, Gago and Marcelo

why? he's a Cule. Like attacking players more anyway, him or Maicon is enough. Maicon is VERY good too. Only would drop Julio Cesar from that list, because I'm not sure about him & he's a goalie too.

If they were both wingers I'd agree with you, but Maicon is a much better defender than Alves, but Alves isn't a much better attacker than Maicon.

Yes only 1 right back, if we start allowing for more, before you know it, the South American top 10 will have 2 goalies, 4 fullbacks & 4 central defenders.

No. I was just reacting to the "He's above Maicon for sure" comment. Its close, but I think Maicon edges it between the two.

If I had to drop one from that list, it probably would be Aguero or Pato - what do you think Jaime, Alves deserves over these guys? I am not too sure. Tough one.

Well, in truth if we are dropping one from your list I would drop Julio Cesar. I always sort of feel like goalkeepers need to be in their own category.

But if I had to drop one from your list, I think it would be Tevez.

Why? Alves is unplayable sometimes. Maicon is a consistent very good player. But Alves has that fantasy about him.

As RBs, Maicon is better overall. Dunga thinks so too.

Can there be only one right back in the list?

Yeah, tough call... no right or wrong there. IMO I rather have Tevez than Alves, probably coz I rate Tevez very highly. I would put him over Pato at the mo.

I hear ya re goalkeepers. Its an unfair world when it comes to keepers. But I think that while some of these players on my list might find it tough to make the list of worlds top 10 strikers, Cesar would make the list of world's top 5 keepers. Hence I think he deserves his place on this list above a few others that I mentioned.... I missed Cambiasso and Samuel, maybe they would too....
