Madrid Derby: Real Madrid v Atlético Real_madrid_html Madrid Derby: Real Madrid v Atlético Atmad

This thread would be a lot more fun if The-Frank-Tavern were around but anyhow big game in Spain next weekend is the Madrid derby! The burning questions:

Will Pablo play worse than he did against Barcelona? Is that even possible?

How many goals will Raul score?

How many goals will Real Madrid win by?

Will Atletico ever win this derby again?

    Let the banter begin! Biggrin

Why stop making $ with Madrid now? They get to play the team that just played Barcelona. They get a physically and mentally tired team, but the scheduled was like that all season. Kudos to Juande for his good work as well. Another 3 pts for Madrid and SI, SI HAY LIGA! cheers

But seriously we do have some problems in a defence for this match. Pepe is suspended...so that means either Metzelder or Heinze is going to have to partner Cannavaro. Yikes

In 1999/2000 they beat us 0-3 in the Bernabeu. I think that was the last time. Goalkeeper got sent off and a very young Iker Casillas came on. Was one of his first appearances for us. And Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored a couple I think.

Atletico probably tried to let you come back to 3-3 so the tradition could continue, but your players didn't get the hint I guess.

Don't be so harsh. The tradition only started AFTER that game, so we can't blame the poor Patetico players for not realizing they had to bend over and take in the ass at a time when the norm wasn't official. Ale

Atletico will accidently drop the soap during the whole game, as RM will be quite busy I'm guessing 1-0 maybe 2-0, all goals by Casillas who get enough butt hole at home.

So apparently these are the three options Juande is considering in the absence of Pepe for the weekend:

    1) S. Ramos----Cannavaro----Metzelder----Heinze

    2) Salgado-----Cannavaro----S. Ramos-----Heinze

    3) Lass D.-----Cannavaro-----S. Ramos-----Heinze

Unfortunately none of them involve dropping Heinze and one of them involves playing Salgado. Doh

    Anyone have a preference?

The worst part for me is that none of them involve Miguel Torres. That Juande would consider a back 4 with both Heinze and Salgado without even throwing Torres into the mix at any stage is quite disappointing for me. I've been quite disappointed in Torres since his first season, but compared to how Salgado and Heinze have performed he has been solid.

I would go for the first option. I obviously don't want Salgado at any cost and I also don't want Diarra to get out of the midfield. He's been among our best players in every game since he got here. Of course, having such a slow partnership in Canna/Metz is also worrying, but I trust in Diarra's abilities to protect the back 4. It would also be good to see if Metz's performance against Barcelona was just a coincidence or if he's really able to produce that kind of level when he's called upon. If he is, then there is no reason to buy another CB next year if Cannavaro stays and Garay joins.

This is what im waiting to see aswell. Hopefully Metzelder turns out so we have somebody good to be back up Cb and if he performs consistently then who knows.

I lean towards the first option as well although the only one I'd rule out completely is #2 because of....well, our #2.
