Whatever quarrels and dislike I have for United at domestic level, they are worthy ambassadors for British Football - a team historically consisting of English, Scots, Welsh, Irish (who we know are wannabe British) with a smattering of latin flair. They also commendably try to bring through youth, even if they aren't exactly fashionable (O Shea, Fletcher for example). This has been the United way historically, and continues to be, and for that, in Europe, they are far from being the "evil" that is being made out on here.

Inter, on the otherhand, have raided South America football for virtually their entire first team. Other than Super Mario, I don't believe they have any Italian players who can be called youth products playing in their first team. And to top it all off, Mourinho has them playing an unexciting brand of football.

Which team represents the dark side really?

That is true but I don't think they have anything against local players as such in fact they currently have a couple of good ones coming through.
Always wondered about the name. I gues they are the opposite of Athletic Bilbao who almost won't/can't use any other then local players.

Sticking to our philosophy for a 100 years now is admirable, my friend. There was a time when players were not chosen in big Italian clubs coz they were not english or italian... Inter were formed to change that, to select players IRRESPECTIVE of their nationality... there was a lot of opposition to such free thinking, as you can understand from Italy's history, but the club followed it the best way possible.

I am in fact proud that even now, when UEFA rules hurt us for not having the required number of association/club trained players, the club sticks to its principles. I remember last few seasons when we were looking for players, and many times had to choose between an Italian player and a foriegner, inspite of the fact that buying an Italian would have helped us from UEFA perspective, Moratti went on record to say that he will NOT consider nationality as a criteria. Coz thats what we are, and thats what we will always be. Internazionale!

btw, two of our starters tonight are italians from our youth academy.
