Adriano, I quit Empty Adriano, I quit

Post by Guest Fri Apr 10, 2009 12:46 am

    Inter’s Brazilian striker Adriano has
stunned the football world by declaring that he wants to quit football for the
time being, allowing himself to sort his own personal issues out.

This latest saga came about when the
‘Emperor’, who was supposed to return to Italy last weekend following the
international break, failed to do so, as he supposedly missed his initial
    flight.

He has been with his family in Brazil ever
since, and he has also just spoken in a press conference, whereby he has made
these sensational claims concerning his immediate future.

“Right now I am only thinking about my health,”
Adriano admitted in the press conference with Sky Sport24.

“This is my reasoning behind why I want
to stop playing football, at least temporarily anyway.

“I have lost the passion to play,”
Adriano added, in relation to the fact that he is solely focused on dealing
with his own personal problems for now.

The 27-year-old went on to discuss his
current contract with the Nerazzurri, and that he is prepared to sacrifice that
    as well.

“I am prepared to give up the money of my
    salary if need be.”

Recent reports have suggested that Adriano is suffering from a form of
depression since his recent break up with his girlfriend. If this is to be the
case, then hopefully for his sake he can make a speedy recovery.

I just read this on the bbc website aswell.

He doesn't have a good mentality and it looks like he is pretty much finished for good. Even if he starts playing again, he will never be the same player he once was.

Inter show faith in another player and yet again they look like getting nothing out of it.

    I hear your frustration BoBo...

However, its clear he has problems, if he can't motivate himself to do a job many would bend over backwards to do, some for free... he obviously has some very serious problems.

I wish him all the very best, and hope he gets well soon Ale

This is very sad news and he is somebody who has gotten criminally little out of his talent. I think he could have been very useful for Brazil who is crying out for a striker like him. Hopefully he will reapear allthough it will likely be in Brazil.

Just saw his interview. He could've been a little bit more honest. "I don't care about football anymore. All I want to do now is spend the next months drinking, sniffing coke and getting whores".

Do you think that he will ever get a chance to play for a top european side again? He is clearly out of his mind.

Sadly no I don't think so because time isn't on his side. Lets say he is away for a year before he starts getting back into football then he will around 28/29 and I think european clubs will wait and see how he does in Brazil and by the time he will find form I think top clubs won't bother.
However I don't think his time with the Brazil national team is over.

The worst part about Adriano is that he was never even THAT good to begin with. He showed potential to be world class but he always behaved as if he always was and as if he had achieved everything. At least fat Ronaldo and Dinho were in the apex of the football world before they began being lazy. Adriano became a party drunk when he was in his early 20s, and he will now end up with no significant trophies in his career besides a Copa America title. I don't think he did enough for Inter's titles to really be considered a part of them.

Super Madrid, didn't you want us to sign him for next season? Wink

I can't see any major European side taking a chance on him ever again. Hopefully he can actually find some sort of stability and happiness in his personal life even if the football never comes back. At the end of the day, there are more important things than football so if thats what it takes to get him straight in the head, maybe leaving football is the right decision.

I think he was one of the best strikers in the world from in 03-04 and 04-05 and then he started to decline in 05-06.

True that he was never as good as Ronaldo or Dinho and didn't have the longevity of either (like you said, he started becoming lazy in his early 20s) and these guys have still proved their worth even after they put on weight.

I disagree with just about everything you have said.

8 months time, January 2010 he signs for a Brazillian side

by April he's found some form
by May he's in the Brazil squad
by September he's signed for a top side.

Let's not forget that it is in the interest for those that have his ear for him to be playing football and earning money. The agents/hangers-on aren't going to be stroking his hair and kissing his neck for ever, I would be surprised if he's not back on the scene this time next year.

As for his personal problems, I was talking about him with a friend of mine on Wednesday night, before this news had broken properly. We likened him to Stan Collymore, who perhaps few outside of England will know of, he was a striker who had everything, and would have been at home in today's game too but he fucked his career up due to personal problems with drink/depressing/dogging and took so long out of the game by the time he made a comeback his chance had gone. He regrets it now of course, as recently as last year he wanted to make a comeback playing for some Sanmarinese part-timers in their CL qualification games but he missed the deadline. If Adriano comes back in a year, as I expect him to, he could still have a decent career, albeit probably not at an established CL side. If he does leave it too long, he could end up begging a Sanmarinese or German club for a deal.

Adriano wasted 12 million euro for 15 months of contract. Great deal for Inter. He isn't worth his contract since 2005.

Now Adriano can't sign for any italian club until 2010. I think that he will play for a brazilian club. Signing him would be a big risk for any big club from europe.

Adriano has some remarkable moments like Copa America 2004, Confed Cup 2005, derbies against Milan, etc. He is the only player to score in two official finals against Argentina. Unfortunatelly he wasted his talent.

Adriano has too much talent, he is the only real replacement to ronaldo that Brasil have... so if he sorts his personal issues in a few months, whcih I expect him to now that he is back in brasil, he will make a comeback from a brasilian side before the WC, and walk into the NT.

This cancellation of contract is probably the best for Adriano, Inter and Brasil. Hope he makes a comeback, coz this guy is really talented. Never again at Inter tho, we have had enuf.

He needs to sign for a medium sized team with a coach that can get the best out of him.

Only just read that his contract has been terminated.

This is incredibly sad - what a talent.

Reminds me of how Stan Collymore, who was the most naturally gifted striker in England in the last 15 years, threw his talent away.

We tried to sign Adriano at the beginning of this season.

Not sure what was so bad about living in Italy that made him decide to leave.

Perhaps London might be more his cup of tea.

Here's to hoping he makes a swift return to the game Ale
