I take it Benfica has no chance of getting Suazo ?

Early days still, this list is pretty much in the begining so i guess it will change a lot before the start of the new season. I only post confirmed transfers.

Porto is very hispanic at the moment. We have 6 players from Argentina, 3 from Uruguay and 1 from Colombia. I am not refering the loan ones or the list will be even bigger. Unlike other years, the brazilian are much less, only 4.
So it is much more about fighting spirit than technic. That has been the Porto way anyway so it's not that bad. We like players with fighting spirit that give everything in the field and the talent part is a complement. Saying that most of our players are talent so we cover that area well too.

But like i said erly days still, i will keep updating Porto data.

Papers say Lyon wants to buy Cissoko and is willing to splash a good money for him(some say about 18M€). It is the only way they will get him because he is not for sale. He was a super signing and become a first team regular. The papers talk about Lisandro too, but that one will cost more as we dont have a backup for a player of his quality.


As for Suazo:
Not likely. I think Inter wants to cash in on Suazo and he hasn´t been a big impact for them. Also he is expensive and like all clubs, well almost all, in europe money is more scarse right now so clubs have to buy less and better. Than again they always manage to buy expensive players(for our standards), i wonder where the money comes from, heh.

Is the following about right

You can only register a certain number of non EU players each season but you can own more ?

Porto always has more but others (eg Renteria, Machado) go out on loan and are therefore registered with other clubs.

At the end of each season you review the situation - is one of your loan players good enough to earn a place in your squad and take a non-EU spot or do you get rid of him or send him out for another year on loan so that someone else can take the non-EU spot.

Does that make sense ?

Do you think you'll use Renteria or Machado this season ?

What's the situation with Bruno Alves? Again there are rumours linking him to Barça, for around 22m euros. But it's odd because a CB is not what we need.

Not sure about limits, I think nowadays there are none but like you said they are register in their loan clubs so they are not so many in the end. Machado is portuguese.
Yep that is the Porto strategy, some return others are sold. We can not afford to pay high fees like rich clubs so we have to play on antecipation while they are less expensive.
I doubt we will use any of them, it is my opinion though. Machado it is said it was sold to Toulose.

It is said we ask 25M€ and Barça offers 22M€ so the deal is praticly done if true. Still it is said other rich clubs are scaning the matter. I seriusly doubt we will keep him. He is a great guy though.


On other news, Lyon keeps trying to buy Lisandro and Cissoko acording to papers but they do not offer enough.
And some say we are interested in Gignac, as we could afford it. We can only buy unexpensive players and the top french scored wouldn´t be cheap.
Pelé is on his way to genoa too, on loan.

Of course nothing of this is official and we are in the silly season.

Hey, how did Reyes do in his loan spell with Benfica? Career back on track atleast?

Reyes did very well, he was one of the few good things during the season.

We've signed Vasco Fernandes from Leixoes. Any good?

Not a bad young player. A little on the dirty side, never misses an opportunity to kick or elbow an opponent.

Whilst we're on the subject of right-backs, what is going to happen to Pedro Correia? From what I've read he had a pretty good season with Racing Ferrol.

I don't know. If he's still under contract I'd imagins he'll be sold orloaned out again.

lampiao and other Benfica fans - what are your thoughts/hopes for this season? Seems like you have quite a few good players in your squad now (Cardozo, Di Maria, Aimar if he stays fit, Luisao, David Luiz). You think you can finally challenge for the title against Porto, who have lost 3 key players? And Sporting don't seem to have strengthened much.

What do you think about taking Keirrison on loan - will he play much? Has he got many minutes yet?
