Looks like this has gone under the radar among all the CL discussion. The guy was apparently part of the group that took over Man. City, but has now decided to go it alone. And he is apparently promising to spend even more than City Yikes

Was this the eccentric guy who went about publishing his dream teams and stuff?

Mandaric to Gaydamic, now Al Fahim. That club probably needs some stability. I'm sure their Russian takeover was talked of in the same bracket as Abramovich for a short time, this might be on similar lines. Poor man's Chelsea, to poor man's City.

Not convinced anyone's going to invest vast amounts there simply because they've never had the fanbase - still, this could put them back to challenging in the top half..just need a new manager and half a dozen top players

Who told him Portsmouth is a good club to buy? I'll never understand these tycoons and their choice of clubs.

Competing in the Premiership is starting to feel like riding Tour de France clean.

Not sure on their fanbase. It has potential to expand, but I agree there are far more suitable clubs to buy out there.

If I had a zillion pounds and was looking for English sides to buy the first thing I would look at is history and fanbase so clubs like NUFC, Spurs, Leeds, Derby and Sunderland would probably be at the top of my list.

Probably not Spurs because they're twats.

Good luck on trying to buy Spurs if you're not Jewish.

If he's looking for a south coast club in need of a financial boost with the potential for ambitious development given their current position I can think of a better and cheaper option than Pompey.

Another big spending prem team then.

"Portsmouth is a club with money and ambition, which is very important to any top manager," said Eriksson's agent Athole Still.

"Of course it would be a club that interests Sven."
