Statistics Prove Capello Right Empty Statistics Prove Capello Right

Post by La Saeta Rubia Tue Sep 19, 2006 4:51 pm

    - The numbers prove Capello is right

The madridismo continues debating around Capello. The are divided by the hesitant image shown by the team in the league
starter, although the numbers vouch for the march of Madrid in league.

    - Four points more than last season

The comparisons are inevitable and in this section, the Madrid of Capello improves on Luxemburgo`s madrid. After the
dispute of the third league match, madrid has four points more this season (7), the previous season they had three (winning in cadiz 1-2 and losing at home against Celta 2-3 and losing in Montjuic 1-0).

-Madrid shoot as much as barça, and is attacked less

The stats do not speak of the estetic of play, but Madrid is the second team that most shoots on goal in the first 3 league games (47 times, the same as the barça) and only surpassed by mallorca. Also, Iker is the goalkeeper that had less shots fired at him (26 shots, 9 per game).

    - Iker is the less beaten keeper and Van Nistelrooy the striker that most shoots

Madrid is the team less beaten (Iker has received 1 goal in three matches) together with valencia and that contrasts with the passed campaign, in which the Madrid received five goals in the first 3 games.
Up front, van nistelrooy is the one that most shoots fired (9 per game) in front of etoo, although the sensacion of the team in attack is capable of improvement.

Lies, Lies and Damned Statistics Wink

I think it would be more interesting to look at goal opportunities rather than shots on goal..

In any case it still doesn't shake the overall feeling that the attack seems lethargic. But it is very early.. (however remember your game against Lyon.. that was worse than last year)

No, its means Mallorca is the team that most shoots in primera, like you said i think thats due to the influence of the mighty Maxi Lopez.

statistics are overrated IMO. when did la liga turned into a NBA-like football league?

RM is playing like shit and you know it. Statistics can only disguise the poor games you've been playing nothing else.

I'm laughing at how desperate you are to prove that Madrid are better than Barça when your own fans are booing your players and complaining about how crap your team plays...not about your 3 years in blanco.

Not to be nasty mate but they were totally outplayed in the Champions league. I do hope they play and I 'm sure they will because Capello is a decent manager and they have great players, but it's a bit too early to judge and compare it too last year. ImO It will take time for all new players to settle down. And you will see Diara will do a great job, a job no defensive midfield has done successfully since Makele left.

Statistics can mean a lot of different things, but one thing they can't do is fool your eyes. It is clear for everyone to see that our attack is pathetic at the moment. I'm sure it will improve a lot, but several changes have to be made in order for that to happen. That being said, we could have certainly scored a lot more goals than what we've scored so far. Van Nistelrooy alone has missed around 5 sitters in the first 4 games. But then again, the same could be said for a lot of other teams. It's not like Madrid has created a flood of chances and bad finishing has been the reason for the lack of goals. We are struggling to create chances to an extent that I hadn't seen for many years. However, with the attacking talent we have in the team, I think it is only a matter of time before free-flowing football returns. With players like Robinho, Cassano, Reyes and Ronaldo, I don't see how it can't happen.

I do - it can't happen if Capello doesn't play them Wink
