England turned to shit when the messiah (Joe Cole) came on, before that they were good, created a lot of chances which rooney fucked up. Created nothing once the messiah was on, but we'll overlook that when we're saying joe cole the only one who consistently delivers for england.

First time we've won our group since 1930, when we finished 3rd. Also first time we've gotten points from our last group match.

Maybe this is the first time your family has been able to afford a TV, but I've seen England in the knockout stages of a world cup before and it isn't anything special.

We won a game against a poor side through a single goal that should have been saved. Put in context, we've played as badly in the group stage as any side in the tournament except France. Just because we've got through doesn't make us a side worth cheering.

When we go out of the next four international tournaments in humiliating fashion, you'll care. Until then, fuck off.

Amazed that Slovenia's gaffer went with a 4-4-2 - played right into our hands.

Germany, Ghana and poss Serbia will play 4-5-1 - do we stick with the same lineup and risked getting bossed in midfield ?

Or do we drop either our goalscorer or our star man (allegedly) ??????

I just can't celebrate finishing 2nd behind the US. This was a horrible group and should've been won comfortably. I don't want to see the gaps papered over, this squad NEEDS an overhaul going into euro qualifying. <Ale>

    damn friggin' yankees.

we need a coalition of the willing to ensure that the maximum possible effort will be put at every level to stop them from progressing further.

I've nothing against their team, but I just totally can't stand that nation of fuckos getting high on football.

As far as the Yankee's are concerned they've beaten us, they've won. My minimum expectations coming into this tournament were to finish above the USA.

At the time we brought on Joe Cole England were making chances but not finishing them......... Bringing on a striker (crouch) would of been the correct move..

Least the Media and fans saw Cole play.

Well, it was kinda how I expected. Eked out a win. Way more nervy than it should've been, but couldn't get the second. Had spells of pressure but then slowed down and retreated after about the hour mark, which was disappointing (and stressful).

James - very solid and calm. Good to see.
G.Johnson - usual. Good forward support, odd worrying moments defensively.
Upson - bit dodgy. Kept giving soft fks and didn't look comfortable with the ball.
    Terry - v.solid
    A.Cole - usual
Milner - poor start, but grew into it. Got the assist too. Only Villa players have got assists so far. Take note.
Lampard - mostly decent, missed a good chance
Barry - bit iffy at times, slack with the ball and giving away fks
Gerrard - mostly decent, looked good in spells we were pressing
    Defoe - owned Tweedle Ale
Rooney - not there yet, but better

Heskey - came on and did his job
J.Cole - came on and gave the ball away

    --

Funny that Milner and Defoe were the difference in the end, with everyone criticising Capello's decision.

If it's Germany & Argentina now, so be it. Glad USA got through, would've been a travesty after the disallowed goals (and Slovenia were poor).

Oh, I'm sorry. England are through to the knockout phases having played appallingly, and tediously for three matches. Not being remotely nationalistic, and loving football for the beauty of the game I suppose I should be running around with a toilet seat on my neck, an England flag paper clipped to my balls, singing 'rule Britannia'.

What, exactly, am I supposed to be celebrating? What is so unreasonable about not getting caught up in the 'WE'RE STILL IN THE WORLD CUP DESPITE BEING SHIT' media hype that will now return because we won a single game through a fluke goal?

Particularly coming from you, a frequent moaner, this is fucking ridiculous.

    YOU fuck off.

Well done England - I still maintain that you're among the top 3 or 4 favourites for the World Cup. The confidence will indeed return after this game.

And I'm also glad the US won. They were unlucky with the 3rd goal against Slovenia, and played much better than Algeria today.

Football needs a boost there, and it would have been a step backwards if they went out in such cruel fashion.

Instead, the manner of their win was just immense. Immediately, after the goal, Twitter crashed and was showing a msg "Over capacity". I've never seen that before.

Didn't agree with Defoe initially but glad he was picked. The difference an actual striker gives is someone who looks to score. Rooney can fuck off. Better than last week but I didn't think he would score even when he got that chance. Doesn't know what it means to be striker anymore. Crouch and Defoe would be better, two people who look to score.
