However, I would also like to support a team in Ligue 1, but which one?!

Fellow Euroboarders, you are most probably unaware that i've left Bristol (and Beglium) and am spending the next year in France, Tours to be precise. Tours are currently in the second division, and are doing quite well currently, so i'll try to make my way to a few of their games. Especially as tickets are apparently only three euros.
However, I would also like to support a team in Ligue 1, but which one?!

Tours! Really? That's where I lived when I was in high School. Lived there for 7 years. Good place to get wasted during the weekend. Tours are doign quite well this year and they just bought a guy from nowhere, an Ivory Coast dude who already scored 7 goals in 4-5 games.

Montpellier!
They're like the Southampton of the Premier League but with more blacks
Seriously though, lovely city.

Not a patch on the atmosphere at the Grove, of course, but you can't have it all.

Awesome! Seems a pretty nice place, going into town tonight - some of the bars in the old part of town seem pretty nice and quite chilled.

Reminds me of the last time i was at the Emirates. Paris is probably the closest major team, so maybe i should support them. Or maybe Nantes - what are they like at the moment?

Several nice French clubs really. Of the more famous clubs only Bordeaux seems rather dull to me.

There one place you have to go, which is the main place, it's called "place plumereau", with lots of bars. I think there are some pubs you can watch P.L games. Clubs are rather shit over, same old music with weirdo people.
There's only two big clubs in France right now: Lyon and Marseille. Maybe the most exciting one will be Lille, followed by Rennes, Toulouse and Paris.

Dont chose Paris, they are one of the biggest chokers in football.
I like Lyon's style of football but if you prefer a team that is more of an underdog then why not their rivals St. Ettienne? they had a fairytale run in 1977 I think when they made it to the CL final and they are the club of Platini and some other good french players.

St Germain, awesome name and shirts. Look a lot like Arsenal, since they win fuck all.
Marseille, great support, rebel attitude, city has sadly become the most northern african city though.
I wouldnt pick Lyon myself. Prefer Bordeaux, Auxerre and St Ettienne above them even.

I always liked Nantes personally but I think Pierre is right that they got relegated last year again.

After much deliberation i have decided to support PSG. It may be rather testing, but Paris is easy to get to so i might be able to go and watch them and i believe they have a good set of vocal fans, which will be a nice change

Bad choice. After the clashes of supporters last year, the club decided to dismantle the groups of supporters. Therefore, there is no atmosphere at the Parc des princes this year.

Their fans are horrible (racist and violent), and I dont really think thats a good city either. Paris is overrated. Just too much all around.
Go with either Stade Rennes or Toulouse. Nice fans, wonderful cities, and usually the teams try to not bore you to sleep.

"Paris is overrated"
It's really, really not.
Once you get beyond the racist fringe the fan atmosphere will also be an exciting breath of fresh air for Kevin I think.
