it doesn't even make sense. Reaching the semi finals of the European Championships is probably akin to reaching the knockout round of the World Cup. If his target were to reach the World Cup semi in 2022 and win the European Championships in 2024 then that would make more sense.

Either way, if you were serious about sorting out English football you wouldn't be setting a 7-9 year target, it's more like 20 years. But by then we'll all be Chinese, and Greg knows this. Dyke Rolling Eyes

And future England manager Alan Shearer must be rubbing his sensible hands together in glee at the pot of gold maturing before his very eyes.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is the latest player to pull out of the England squad to face Moldova in a World Cup qualifier on Friday.

Rickie 'the local hero' Lambert should be good enough against some shit team like Moldova. If Hodgson fucks this up I'll be first on here to say I told you so.

Lambert will do fine I'm sure. But this was a chance for an in form Sturridge to bang some goals in for England and maybe have a claim to start.

Also, the bbc seems to continuously list Young as a forward and I don't know why. Annoying though.

look very light in defence now. Smalling seems to be only cover for both RB & CB.

Walcott-Lambert-Welbeck should be fine as front 3.

FYI Danny Longlegs and Rickie Lambert both wanted the #9 shirt tonight. The Man Utd player, who is the left winger for tonight, pulled rank which is why Lambert wears #11.

I think the only thing holding them back in previous tournaments is that we weren't playing Moldova at home. but you never know who we'll draw in Brazil Crazy

Weirdly, WHam played a friendly this week against Espanyol.

Apparently Ravel Morrison was again excellent. Which is encouraging from the perspective that we have so few options in central midfield areas creatively.

Clearly he's a horrible chav off the pitch, but by all accounts has been playing very well since moving from Man United's youth team.

    Not bad skills innit bruv

he's apparently quit England after being ignored since the U18's. He's going to be Jamaican, or Welsh.

not sure how Daniel Sturridge can be a loss. I don't think he's ever started for England. Hodge Podge called up Townsend, Sterling, Zaha, Young, Cleverly, Barkley etc so time to put his money where his Albert Steptoe mouth is.

Apparently he would be like Lothar Matthaus. It was a strange column. just to prove I didn't imagine it (though you can't read the whole thing):
