Essien and Boulah got 6's, the same as Ronaldinhio and Shevchenko. Yikes

Less than Lampard and Terry of course.

& worst of all the did the key clash as Ronaldinhio vs Ashley Cole. Doh

We're always told over here never to trust anything the tabloids write.

    Now I know why Smile

    Oh boy :

    Ronaldinho = Boulahrouz = 6

    Shevchenko = Essien = 6

What the hell do they put in the water over there ?!

    *The Sun*

It doesn't surprise me, pity is that they are brainwashing the public with this crap.

    This is from the Times:

    How Chelsea rated

    By Russell Kempson

The Suns ratings for Chelsea vs Barcelona Trans
    Hilário
Hilarious? Not a bit. Confident showing with smart saves from Lionel Messi, Xavi, Deco and a free kick by Ronaldinho 7

    Khalid Boulahrouz
Went about his business efficiently at right back, even when faced with the daunting shape of Ronaldinho. It says it all that the Brazilian was made to look a mere mortal 7

    Ricardo Carvalho
Poor header at far post from free kick but better at defensive duties. Couple of loose passes, yet produced a magnificent tackle to dispossess Messi at a vital moment 6

    John Terry (c)
“Captain Courageous” heroics not needed this time, just a steady hand on the tiller. Display was more about thinking, timing and positioning, yet was still hugely effective 7

    Ashley Cole
Plenty of messin’ about with the mercurial Messi, the hate figure for the home fans, and lost a lot of their battles. Perceptive pass, though, for Didier Drogba’s goal 5

    Claude Makelele
Has taken the “water carrier” role of Didier Deschamps, the former Chelsea player, to extreme levels. He hurried, hassled, picked up the scraps and snuffed out the threats 6

    Michael Essien
Does similar job to Makelele but with more verve and thrust under his licence to roam. Enjoys destroying and a couple of surging runs in first half caught the eye. Immense 7

    Michael Ballack
Back from domestic suspension and, at times, off the pace. Mistimed several tackles, conceded several free kicks, but always available to assist team-mates 5

    Frank Lampard
Signs of a return to form, though not surprising with the Barcelona midfield failing to fire. Again, no criticism of workrate; again, off target with his shooting 6

    Didier Drogba
Has his critics but grafted tirelessly after first-half injury left him groggy. Wonderful execution for goal. Fascinating battle with Gianluca Zambrotta and won it hands down 8

    Andriy Shevchenko
Listless against little Reading on Saturday, marginal against mighty Barça. Denied a goal by last-ditch tackle from Rafael Márquez but jabbed over from close range in second half 4

    Thats much more realistic.

The thing with the Key clash and Ronaldinhio vs Ashley Cole, they made out that Cole got the best out of the duel. I can't even remember them being within 5 yards of each other as they were playing on opposite wings. Doh

Even the ratings of the Barca players were awful, Messi a 5 and Ronnie a 6!

I think I will do, that was just pathetic.

Marquez got a bad review as well, when he made one of the best goal saving tackles I've seen in a while.

Got to say 5 for Cashley is extremely harsh. Messi got the better of him once in the whole game if I remember rightly. Maybe because of the serialisation of his egotistical book in the Sun he is now feeling the wrath from the other papers/journo's? Wink where's Puro when you need him re: conspiracy theories...

Sorry Pele, I thought Cole was poor. Messi got the better of him more than once and Guily did as well.

He was Chelsea's poorest player after Sheva.

    Poorer than Ballack?

I thought he nullified Messi pretty well. Giuly did get round him in the second half, but apart from that I thought he did well, and retained possesion well down the left too.

He wasnt brilliant, but I just dont agree with a 5 - Messi is a player who. like last year, is capable of embarrassing fullbacks. He didnt get anywhere near embarrassing Cole is probably the point I was making, just made him a little uncomfortable at best on the odd occasion...

Yeah Messi done over Cole at least 3 times in the 1st half, and Guily came around the back on a couple of aoccasions as well.

But Cole has an assist on Drogba's goal - so he got a 6.5 from me.

Maybe on a par with Ballack. There'd both get 5's or 6's. Everyone else would get a 7, with Boulah, Essien and Drogba getting 8's or 9's. Sheva would be a generous 5.

Barca's best chance in the first half, he got caught out and he got done at least twice. He was also lucky Barca couldn't get there full backs forward, due to Chelsea being excellent in midfield.

Fair play, although credit has got to go to both Chelsea' fullbacks aswell as the midfield for nullifying Barcelona's 2 widemen in their 4-3-3 formation where Messi and Ronnie were playing wide and didnt have much influence in the game at all.

This despite neither tracking back so in essence the times Cole did get caught out were the times that Barca were on the counter and Messi was up the pitch whilst Cashley was caught going forward.

Still, eitherway, nobody played really badly, it was a pretty impressive Chelsea performance i think we all agree on that <Ale>
