Der Kaiser: Ballack should have joined Manchester United ..

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer claims Michael Ballack made a mistake in joining Chelsea and should have moved to Manchester United.

Ballack's £130,000 per week deal is thought to make him the world's highest paid player, but the 30-year-old has failed to shine at Stamford Bridge.

"I can't see a place for him at Chelsea. He'd have been better off at United," said Beckenbauer.

"The game passes him by. Frank Lampard is stronger and takes his position."

Would Ballack have been better off at Manchester United, or will he still not adapt to the English game?

That's what i thought .. still if he came on a 'free', United may have not signed Carrick ... still SAF wanted a DM (not Carrick though, but Hargreaves as we know.)

But i think Beckenbauer is trying to say; Manchester United's style would have suited him better

Still having; Carrick, Scholes and Ballack -- the team would have a 'stronger' strength in depth.

your interest was before the carrick signing was it not?... plus it was also at a time when scholes had his eye holiday

he would have been far far better off at united and id bet my house on fergie starting him ahead of carrick if he was there

Yep but someone like Ballack would have to start.

So then one of Carrick, Giggs or Scholes would have to be dropped.

All having very good seasons, particularly Scholes, who's position Ballack would most likely take.

I think hes saying, in Chelsea's system

Lampard > Ballack

because; Lampard is used to it and Ballack is not ..

I doubt overall ability Beckenbauer would say that

Yeah he would of been better at man utd. He would of got lots of headed goals from crosses, and people would of thought hes world class he scores a lot of goals. at chelsea he is shown up for what he is

very odd statement...you cant seriously mean that ballack is better than scholes and giggs?...the way hes been playing for the last 4 years hes not even better/more consistant that carrick..

ballacks over rated...ive said it before and i most definately will be saying it again....lampard is way better...seems the kaiser..as well as ballacks ex manager magath...also agree...

thats precisely the point...ballack has 'hidden' behind scoring goals for years...and if you take out fouling to stop the opponents attacking intensions and whining to the ref....he doesnt actually do much else.

scoring is obviously important..and if a striker was doing this i wouldnt complain...but hes a midfield player...and a very over rated one at that...

you cant doubt his business sence though....best paid player in the world!!!...laughable..

I said it from the beginning : Ballack was tailor made for United (still is by the way).

He fits their system perfectly (alongside Scholes or alongside Carrick : both would work).
