Robinho rejects Spurs in style HAHA Empty Robinho rejects Spurs in style HAHA

Post by Deano Thu Feb 15, 2007 5:03 pm

Real Madrid star Robinho has rejected talk he could move to Tottenham if he decided to leave El Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazilian international recently voiced his disappointment at his lack of first team chances this season.

Robinho has struggled to hold down a spot in Fabio Capello's starting XI this term.

The former Santos man hinted he could consider his future at Real if his situation did not improve.

Rumours emanating from Spain suggested Tottenham were monitoring Robinho's situation, but the classy forward has dismissed the possibility of moving to White Hart Lane.

Robinho insists Tottenham are not a big enough club for him if he was to leave the Spanish capital.

"Reports that I'd move to Tottenham are wide of the mark," Robinho told Marca.

"If I had to leave Real, I'd choose to join another a big club.

"I don't regard Tottenham Hotspur as a big club."

Tottenham is considered a small club in Brazil. Only United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are considered big clubs.

That's normal, you don't follow brazilian football. At least English Football gets plenty of coverage of here. There are 4 or 5 live league matches per weekend, FA Cup and Carling Cup.

Which team is the most supported Sheva?

I'm guessing Arsenal with their playing style and the Brazilians in their side.

I think that it is Man Utd because they defeated Palmeiras in the Intercontinental Cup and dominated the 90's and early 00's. Ronaldo has always been popular since his early days at Utd because of his playing style. United are followed by Arsenal especially because of Henry and their sucess since Wenger's arrival. Gilberto and Baptista are low profile players, almost nobody would support Arsenal just because of them.

Chelsea don't have many fans because of Abramovich. Liverpool can't win the league for too many years, they aren't very popular here as well.

Maybe for some reason you just don't care about the brazilian league. BTW Newcastle signed Mirandinha, the first brazilian to ever play in England. Newcastle have something to be proud of. Smile

It seems you try to follow Brazilian football.

I know that Arsenal biggest rivalry is with Tottenham, but an ordinary Brazilian fan will say that Arsenal vs Chelsea is the biggest London derby.

I know that Newcastle fans (my fellow black and white brothers) are the most fanatic in England and I think that they definitely aren't a small or average club, but the majority of brazilian fans rarely hear something about Newcastle because the can't win anything. So Tottenham and Newcastle aren't considered big clubs.

Believe me, Brazil have 12 big clubs from 4 different cities. There isn't a team that stay on top for too long(more than 4 years), or have awful results for more than 2 years.

I get you - It's also because there is a much more even playing field Financially. So success is shared around a lot. English football used to be like that in times gone past.

Spurs were the 1st English club to acheive the "Double" i.e. win both the National league and Cup competition in the same season. A massive acheivement.

    It was in 1961

Robinho will stay at Real for years to come, pity he has a stupid agent, who was in the papers the next day running his mouth.

Capello will not be at the helm next season, so there's nothing to worry about.

Although im kinda p'd off at Robinho for going public so soon, he's not been a regular in the first half of the season, but theres on half left ffs.

I like it. Over the past ten years clubs from four different cities have won the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian League. Until 4 years ago the brazilian league was totally unpredictable and very exciting.

I think that Robinho it’s starting to talk from his ass, I know that I am suspect to talk about him since I never really was a fan, but it’s not like he is giving football lessons every time he plays a game, I mean let’s be serious, this guy never accomplished what people expected from him (kaka after six months owned Milan’s midfield, Diego already is one the most important players on Werder)

Also I don’t care how small a club is, it’s rude to say such thing, especially because we don’t know what the future may bring to you. Can’t he just says, I am honored but I am will choose another club.
No matter how true it is, it hurts for a fan to hear this, so why not be nice.
(also with his body I don’t see him going to Germany or Italy, so that doesn’t left a lot of big teams, does it? )

Stop believing you are a gift from God and play football, moron.

Well said fella! Ale Robinho is/was the most over-hyped player in a generation - who was always going to fail in the big boys leagues....anyone with any sense who saw his lame jiggery-pokery for Santos knew it was 'lite' unlike the real-deal produced in the real games by the likes of messi and ~The Red Wiz (C.Ronaldo)

If RM bin Robinho in no tme he will fade into insignificance....i assure you.
