- Il capitano della Sampdoria, Francesco Flachi, è stato trovato positivo per un metabolita della cocaina (benzoilecgonina) al controllo antidoping effettuato la paertita casalinga con l'Inter dello scorso 28 gennaio. Il posticipo della 2ª di ritorno era finito per 2-0 a favore dei nerazzurri e Flachi aveva giocato fino al 24' della ripresa, rilevato poi da Bonazzoli.
"La Commissione antidoping del Coni - si legge nel comunicato - su indicazione della Federazione medico sportiva, dopo aver informato la Federazione interessata, con cui ha proceduto all'abbinamento codice/atleta, ha accertato un caso di positività. Il Laboratorio di Roma ha rilevato, nel primo campione sottoposto ad analisi, la presenza di Benzoilecgonina (metabolita cocaina) per Francesco Flachi".

I always liked the guy, great talent and a really nice bloke rooted in the people's side of football (he comes from Isolotto, a popular area of Florence, and he's been a passionate Curva Fiesole regular until he went pro).

But he's always gone overboard with... chemical romances =)

In Florence ultras used to call him PasticcaFlachi (PillsFlachi) coz it was not uncommon to spot him in dodgy techno clubs in a very suspicious happy mood =)

And in 1996 he got prosecuted for drug traffic, he wasn't guilty actually, it was wrong namecalling by some pusher, but this shows how close to the scene he was.


On a different note, it always bugs me how football players can be suspended for doping (=the use of a drug product to improve athletic performance) when found positive to cocaine or cannabis.

We could discuss the moral side of the issue, but anyone knows that only a complete moron would assume those things in order to help his fitness and performance =)
