    Outrageous Empty Outrageous

Post by Luis Tue Mar 20, 2007 7:22 pm

I've just been informed that for the Champions league final in May in Athens, the Stadium capacity is apprantly just under 75,000.

However, the fans from both finalists will only recieve 17,000, if this is true that really is shocking, the rest of the tickets go to the 'football family' a.k.a rich snobs who couldn't give a toss what the result is.

This means that (And I know it's a little too early) say Liverpool get to the final, the fans who have gone to every single home champions league game this season will probably not get a ticket as no doubt they will have to have at least 1 away CL game recorded on their fan card to stand a chance because of the seat limitations.

What I don't understand is, why do UEFA do this? ( I remember similar problems in Istanbul at the Attaturk), the Champions league final is meant to be one of the biggest games in football, yet they limit the amount of fans to suit people whom the majority of don't even support a club in the final, Uefa should give half to one teams fans and the other half to the other teams fans it's as simple as that.

Same happened/s at major international championships. Most tickets end up on the black market anyway and so it gives a fair opportunity to the locals.

When they actually sort out touts however they'll be more than an uproar if this stance remained.

It's only normal that those who pay for it get to see it.

Big business pays more than normal fans, so be glad that you'll be getting 17000 tickets.

That number will go down in the future for sure ok

What are you worried about? Even if Liverpool get there, your mum won't let you go.

Don't worry Luis, PSV don't have a very large fan base.

there is also a difference between the travelling behaviour of different fans, e.g. quite a lot of milan fans didn't go to istanbul and were selling their tickets around here at fairly normal prices (including my friends), also lots of flights from milan to istanbul were available whereas I heard they were totally full from the uk.

But generally I agree that more tickets should be available to normal football fans.

    Same thing happened last year.

And I can't blame you for planning ahead, but don't jinx your team thinking too much about this right now.

He's referring to the supporters who have been to the stadium to watch every Champions league match that Liverpool have played at home this season.
