Who has been your clubs Player of the Season?

With the final weeks of the football season upon us now, who has been your clubs player of the season? Maybe it has been the consistant goalkeeper? Or your diehard defender? On the other hand it may be the tireless midfielder or the prolific striker. Who has been the player for you?

As an Arsenal fan, my player of the season is our Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Silva.



He has really stepped up his game this year, despite previous good seasons, Part of this is down to his self styled mature professional attitude and has made him step up and take responsibility when times have been hard at the club. Our usually star man Thierry Henry has been away for most of the season and with this we have missed our captain. He was given the armband and has let no-one down at the club. He has even taken the responsibility as the penalty taker and has had an impressive record from the spot the year scoring twice vs. Tottenham and once vs. Chelsea. The team have had lots of injuries in the squad this year including midfield, we has also gone through a significant transition period. Gilberto Silva has been everpresent for the team and has provided some much needed stability for the team to move on. He has been Mister Consistancy all season long for us.

Brilliant displays week in week out, he's an essential part of our team and is vastly under-rated, one of the best right backs in the league IMO if not the best

like i said in another thread Real madrid should give two awards since casillas is normally our most consistent performer. so beside him i gues it will be ramos since torres has only played since winter. if guti is commanding in the last games he might get close.

For Inter, its pretty clear...

Ibrahimovic!!!!!

Honourable mentions to Zanetti, Materazzi, Maicon & Stankovic.

Its been a great season, obvioiusly a collective effort, but there is no doubt who made the critical difference - Ibrahimovic. We probably would have won the Scudetto without him, but there is no way we could have done it so emphatically!!!

Anderson Polga, no doubt about it. The man is in absolutely amazing form. The fact he hasn't been called up by Brazil again speaks of their lack of vision.

Moutinho of course has been vital and I can't strees just how important Miguel Veloso has been as well. For me, Veloso's inclusion in the midfield as DM has been the key to our success as of late.

Rodrigo Tello has had a very good season as well at LB, he carried the team for long stretches of time throughout the year.

Nani and Liedson have been huge as well although they've had strikes against them that has limited their influence. Nani had his head out of the game for too long and Liedson simply couldn't buy a goal dispite his high output and great team play. Both are on from right now, and Liedson tops the scorers table again.

Tello's the most imporved player in the squad no doubt. He's defending is much better now and his foward play has been excelent.

Love those mm perfect crosses. Free kicks have been a real danger as well.

Scott Brown

Almost indefinitely leaving this season. Other than a blip of about three weeks, when he handed in a transfer request, he has been nothing short of sublime. Fantastic engine, uses both feet, pace, skill, agression. Has been impressive for Scotland too, and in his third cap against Italy, he more than held his own, despite being played out of position. Is a class above anything in Scotland, and should move to the EPL to progress - and there has certainly been interest. There's hardly a week when some EPL/foreign scouts aren't looking at him. (Bolton, Shalke, Villa Real, Tottenham, Arsenal, WBA, Villa, Everton) have all shown interest.

No ones probably heard of him, but I expect to get more recognition outside of the SPL within the next year.

Ricky Dunne without a doubt, the guy is awsome and very consistent. He is one of the most under rated players in the Prem and im veyr pleased to have him as our captain.

for us its prob between puyol never has a bad game and always workin hard
valdes - few game winning saves and been consistent this season
iniesta - our most consistent player but playin poor last few games

Isn't he that blond midfielder? he has also impressed me a lot if that's the one u are talking about, have also seen seen him about twice or thrice. what i like most about him is his ability to pick those loose balls from corners, goal kicks, throw ins etc good player

Just where would we be without him? His effort and commitment has been sensational, non stop work ethic is clearly a huge reason for our title success. His never say die attitude spreads throughout the team and inspires others to give that extra 10%. He has chipped in with his fair share of goals also, such as the one v Roma.

As Roma.Totti is the greatest player this season.
now he is running for the player of the european league.

Mr Wesley Sneijder ; 18 goals in the league

For me Roy Makaay. 16 goals in the league so far despite an obvious lack of support from midfield. Mark van Bommel is a close 2nd for his tenacity and his leadership skills. Provided a number of goals and assists as well.

Puyol or Valdés; the only players who seem to care about the club.

He has been good, but he is not a leader. Right now we need players who can motivate and fight rather than technical players.

Great season overall from last June to now, really matured as a player, great presence, always controlled his temper, he didn't even punch anybody on the valencia night =D.
9 goals in the league, also.

Much greater quality was provided by Ibrahimovic and also, especially in winter, by Stankovic - but Marco is the man for me.

Honorable mention to Dacourt, the guy is just a average squad player but he managed to gave his very best for a couple of months at the beginning of the season. Cambiasso and Vieira were out, we had only him for DM and he did the extra-shifts with great brilliance.
Season starts count a lot for estabilishing your mark on a league, if not for him I doubt we could have walked to the scudetto with so much ease.

Awesome defensive displays - He's the reason why were in the champions league final. Without him, we probably wouldn't even be in the champions league places!

surprised no Barça players have mentioned Messi. For me, he has been the best player this season, even with his injury. Almost every time he played he's been our best player.

Good call, tremendous year by The Matrix. Scoring bicycle-kicks, great defending, motivating everyone around him, taking penalties.... he has come to his own since the world cup.

The real Dacourt contributions came in the middle of the season when Vieira got injured. Yeah, he did more than his job!
